Our 'par' position given our resources and players is probably 7th. Mcleish had us in 12th with over half the season gone with no signs of things getting better. We are a fair bunch unlike that Blackburn mob, we gave him a chance despite the appointment which Villa fans were unanimously against. He has failed as everyone knew he would. Therefore, Mcleish should be removed with immediate effect. If he isn't, the fans will make sure he is. Rest assured of that.
you finished 9th last season, you sold your best provider in downing in close season. half way through this season you are two points off 9th and well clear of relegation. villa would be nuts to sack mcleish half way through his first season. what if the new manager goes on a bad run and you end up near the bottom? sack him after 6 games? have you forgotten the quality martin o'neill had at his disposal just to get to 6th?

Villa fans turn on their manager because of a bad result and because he used to manage Birmingham. What a surprise An unsurprisingly ill informed token response. Yes, he came from Birmingham (it's a mainly one way England v Scotland-esque 'rivalry'), he was given a fair welcome. The one bad result quote goes to show the level of misunderstanding. The fans have been pretty patient - The logic behind the initial appointment was " Well we won't be that great to watch going forward, but at least he should sort the defence out" given his portfolio. He hasn't, and the only addition to the back 4 has been Alan Hutton, who has thus far made Bosko Balaban look like a shrewd signing. James Collins continues to go through the motions looking as disinterested as any player I've seen , kicking for touch like Johnny Wilkinson's less talented brother, but still gets picked ahead of Cuellar and Clarke. Warnock still gets done for pace and position and hacks people down from behind and collects his statutory yellow card most games. McLeish further up the pitch has played Heskey as a right winger, Petrov still just runs and runs and sweats but doesn't produce, whilst Albrighton, the best crosser at the club has spent most of the season on the bench, whilst N'Zogbia looks about as interested as Collins, but gets played to try and justify his fee and wages. No, the squad isn't full of world beaters, but on ability should finish without question closer to 7th than 15th, but nobody would put money on that at the moment, and the manger has a lot to do with that reasoning.
I'm sure there has been a season of frustration but the sack the manager post came after a 2-0 defeat to Swansea and days after winning at Chelsea. you have picked up points in 13 of 20 matches. that's a pretty solid performance. you can pick apart the manager's formation and tactics but the bottom line is you've sold your best players and haven't replaced them. as harry redknapp says 'good players win football matches'. mcleish was probably appointed because he isn't going to complain about a lack of cash. I would guess the owner is quite happy with being mid-table. maybe you should get a better manager in the summer and invest in the team but I can't see anyone doing better than mcleish in the next few months with that squad.
