Even that rat Jim Traynor is jumping shipLaughLaughLaugh

James Traynor of the Daily Record has issued a stark warning to Rangers fans that their club might be killed off.

The scale of the financial crisis at Ibrox remains unknown but in September in an exclusive interview with Craig Whyte Traynor revealed that the club wagebill had increased by 20% since the billionaire bought the club from Sir David Murray.

With no European income to supplement the clubs’ cashflow Whyte issued a grim warning about the financial situation regardless of the on-going tax worries.

“I didn’t buy Rangers to watch the club fail,” the new chairman claimed in September. “But hard decisions will have to be made and we’ll start making them very quickly.

“I put myself in the position of owning a football club so I cant moan about it now, although the payroll every month is not something I find enjoyable.

“Decisions will have to be made and there will be pain but no matter the outcome of the bigger tax case we will still be here. Rangers will still be playing at Ibrox and moving forward.

“Yes, we have inherited a mess from the previous management and there are a lot of issues we are working through.

“But the main thing is we have to get real we are stuck in Scottish football and our costs are significantly more than the income we bring in and that has to be dealt with.

“We have to get to the stage where we can at least break even and live within our means. We’re very far from being there at the moment.

“We are geared up for being in the Champions League every season that’s the cost base we’ve got.”

The reality of that cost base, the uncertainty over the tax bill and a sustained title challenge from Celtic has changed the landscape since Whyte’s arrival as new owner in May.

Fergus McCann is possibly the only person to have made money out of Scottish football with others such as Murray, John Boyle and Pearse Flynn finding that their success in other business fields can’t be transferred into the unique world of football. That reality seems to be dawning on Whyte.

As Ally McCoist and the Rangers support plead for further investment the likelihood is that it will only be outgoing business for the club this month with the price for players such as Nikica Jelavic and Steve Davis unlikely to match the value that Rangers currently place on them.

In an opinion piece this morning Traynor warns: “Rangers, as they’ve been known for more than a century, might be killed off and a new club born from the fall-out and recriminations.

“A ruling on the HMRC case is expected this month but there may be a feeling within Ibrox that no matter the outcome of the tax dispute, the best way, maybe the only way, forward is administration or some form of liquidation.

“However, that would require a lot of explaining. All those fans who bought into the new regime but who have since been trying not to think of worst-case scenarios will finally be demanding answers to questions they should have been asking months ago.”

Neutrals meaning non Celtic or ex rangers fans, obviously.
Peter Lawell, and Celtic, do not have to say a thing at present.
They will have their vote, the same as the rest.
Some clubs may show a drop in income, others maybe not.
Football should be no different to any other business, pay what you can afford.
How much did Celtic pay for the following-

Ledley, Wanyama, Matthews, Hooper, Kayal, Izaguirre, Commons, Ki, Mulgrew, Forrest?
Around 8 million? in total.
How much are they worth now?
Conservative estimate- 60- 70 million?
This is the way ahead, buy young players with potential and sell them on when the right offers come in.
If Celtic can do it, so can the others.

Celtic knock back 6 million for Ki.
This is how you progress, not buy buying has beens like James Beattie, David Healy etc on ridiculous wages with no possible sell on fees.
No wonder rangers (1873) went bust and are no more.

Peter Lawell is playing a blinder, as always, that is why he was coveted by Arsenal, Chelsea and the like.
I feel I have to repeat this bit.

So, Peter, and Neil of course, have been proved right all along, even though some so called Celtic fans, aka glory hunters, wanted us to match the ridiculous over inflated transfer fees paid by rangers (1873), though, as we now know, paid for by the taxpayer, we did the right thing.
evidence of course being, we are the league champions, we are still in existence, unlike rangers (1873).

What is funny now is, the man (watty smith) whose ego couldn't let Celtic dominate them, without the stolen taxpayers money, is now seen as the saviour, it just gets better and better.

Hi Mac, hows the djing going on the newco thread?
Do you think "walter', could have come in earlier, if he really wanted to save rangers (1873)?
Did walter have an EBT?
Did the sfa receive compensation from rangers (1873) when walter walked away?
Did walter do the right thing, after being knocked out of Europe by Kaunas, by spending lavishly, rather than paying some debts?
Did walter tell the truth when he said rangers (1873) didn't get a league extension? (even though the league finished on a thursday night, why?)
Did walter tell the truth when he said that rangers (1873) didn't sign a player for 3 years? (there is a big list)
Did walter tell the truth when he said that he left rangers (1873) in good financial health?

In your own time mac, I know you are one of the more clearer thinkers among the rangers (1873) fans.

P.S. This is the Celtic chit chat thread.

Hi Mac.

"Let`s be honest though if you had the choice and the boot was on the other foot what would you do?"

Very good question mac, and one which should be addressed.

If you remember, back in 1994, Celtic were hours away from having the plug pulled, for around 6 million, from the Bank of Scotland.

Fergus, and others, and most importantly, the Celtic fans, stepped up to the plate. (a wee rangers saying for you).

Now, this same bank of Scotland, who wanted to put Celtic out of existence, for 6 million, later allowed rangers, through Murray, to borrow hundreds of millions, rankles a wee bit with the Celtic support, I am sure you can see why?

Now, for many years, Murray asked the rangers (1873) fans to do the same, yes?
What was the response Mac?
These fabled worldwide rangers (1873) fans raised the grand total of...... wait for it..... less than a million, so Murray had to borrow another 50 million from the BOS, (the bank who tried to shut Celtic down for 6 million).

But, before we go on, let us go back even further, to when david Murray bought rangers (1873).

Now, if anyone asked you, how much did he pay for them at that time, the answer would be.... 6 million, yes?

Except, he paid , the princely sum of, nothing.

Yep, just like Craig white later, (through ticketus) he paid not a cent, it was the BOS who funded that as well.

But, anyway, this is all past tense, what of the future?

Does walter, (the man who caused the downfall) dupe the newco fans again?
Will walter, be allowed to be any way involved in football at all, after the EBT findings become known?

Who knows?
This has a long way to run yet.

And we haven't started to talk about how rangers (1873) signed a player for free, and 5 months later sold him to the EX RANGERS MANAGER SOUNESS at Newcastle for 8.5 million, things like that, and many many more, will hogtie any newco for many years.

From SOS

It would appear inconceivable that Sky would not match ESPN’s commitment, at least for a season. A £4.5m outlay is pin money for the broadcaster, who last week agreed a £2.228 billion package for English rights. That mind-boggling deal means the cost of one solitary game in the Premier League down south, such as Reading against Southampton, is equivalent to £6.5m. Or, put another way, little under what Sky has been paying for their entire 30-game package up here in recent years.

Imo, it is time to tell them to gtf.

HOW YOUR TEAM WILL VOTE

After a poll by the club’s Trust revealed 97 per cent were against the move, Pittodrie chief executive Duncan Fraser maintained their “views and feelings” would be “taken into account” and that the “integrity of football…must be central to any decision.” One of three clubs now considered to hold a settled position.

CELTIC

The Scottish champions have no option but to register a “no” vote. They must serve natural justice as their support demands of them as to do otherwise would precipitate a collapse of their season ticket numbers. Yet, if they were to help bring about a hiatus in the top flight rivalry with their ancient adversaries, it would force them to take a thumping financial hit running to millions more than any other club as the other cost of that would be the loss of the veto afforded by them twinning with Rangers to sustain the 11-1 voting structure.

DUNDEE UNITED

The tone of chairman Stephen Thompson’s language has noticeably changed in recent days. Last week, he made much of having to recognise, above all, the feelings of his fanbase, which is hostile to re-admission of the reconstituted Ibrox club. Talk of a complete Sky withdrawal has resulted in him now giving voice to a need to recognise the importance of television money. Without it, he said, “some clubs would face insolvency”, adding: “The smaller the club the greater the need for TV money, so it’s important for us.” Important enough for Thompson, with heavy heart, perhaps to try to sell his support the club’s endorsement of SPL status, but with stiff sanctions attached, for Rangers 2012.

HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN

A club that toiled to pay its players’ wages on time last season is hardly likely to be wowed at the prospect of any reduction in its revenues. Especially when they are still seeking £800,000 from Rangers for the Lee Wallace transfer. However, it would go against everything that Vladimir Romanov has previously preached if he were to vote in one of the Glasgow “mafia” after they have been shown to have used tax dodges to sustain their dominance, and that could hold the key in the final analysis for the Tynecastle club.

HIBERNIAN

Chairman Rod Petrie’s “sporting integrity cannot be obtained for any price” remains the soundbite that absolutely nails the Leith club to a position of not accepting a newco Rangers. In most projections, a prudently run Hibs would not be one of the major losers if forced to redraw budgets to compensate for the fiscal reductions inherent in losing the Ibrox club, while the unstinting backing of Tom Farmer would allow them to cover any shortfall in the immediate term anyway.

INVERNESS

Chairman Kenny Cameron took umbrage to suggestions earlier in the week that they had made up their minds to back a newco application from Rangers because they could not afford the drastic drop-off in revenues predicted by some if that were not approved. “Any speculation is purely that and we find it strange that some seem to know how ICTFC would vote under certain circumstances – they must have a crystal ball,” he said. Must be considered one of the clubs whose vote remains up for grabs.

KILMARNOCK

Chairman Michael Johnston is a man alone among his SPL cohorts in making it plain that there must be a Rangers in the Scottish top flight and that commercial considerations must trump sporting integrity. He has further stated that the new Rangers must not start next season with any points or financial penalties – these believed to be a possible trade-off for entry for some clubs – in having already been punished enough.

MOTHERWELL

The Fir Park club are understood to be seeking assurances over the broadcasting rights before arriving at any decision on a new Rangers. Their fan ownership model makes them more beholden to the mood of their masses, which has appeared insurrectionist if they do not say “no to a newco”. Another club whose position may be considered to be in a state of flux.

ROSS COUNTRY

The newly promoted Highland side will increase revenues next season whether or not they have Rangers to play in their first tilt in the top flight. Chairman Roy MacGregor said he has taken a “calculated risk” on his budget that is not dependent on income that could be attached to the presence of an Ibrox club in the top flight. MacGregor’s largesse is what County count on. The fact he has said as the “new kid” he will listen to others could make for the likelihood that he serves sporting intergity if it is the case for doing so that is made most passionately by his peers.

ST JOHNSTONE

The one Scottish top-flight club with cash in the bank, they could survive any downturn in the economic viability. As chairman Steven Brown has been quick to point out, the Perth side don’t need a Rangers because they spent many seasons in the First Division balancing their books without them. Yet with Brown also describing the potential loss of the Ibrox club top the top flight as a “disaster” it is thought he is one of those who is likely to be swayed were swingeing tarriffs attached to SPL entry for a newco.

ST MIRREN

His fuliminating “the law is an ass” response to Rangers’ challenge in the Court of Session to the sanctions imposed on them by the SFA judicial panel made the Paisley club’s chairman Stewart Gilmour the most outspoken critic of what he saw as the Ibrox club’s reckless disregard of football’s jurisdiction. That is believed to have hardened his attitude towards a newco Rangers. And even though he is in the process of selling the club on to a local fan body, with the vote set to come before the £1.5m buy-out earmarked for 4 July, it is thought a “no” vote would not go against the thinking of the club’s hardcore and future owners.

Most coherent post I've seen you make, the bhoys.
Try, in future, to keep it to two words, or preferably one, or none, ideally.

I speak to fans of many clubs and within fans it is way beyond 90% who want TNR to pay their dues and by that they mean relegation not fines or points deduction.

As season book holder at Parkhead for many years and a bitter hatred of all to with deceased Rangers my view is hardly surprising and not worth writing but basically Scottish football survived when Aberdeen and Dundee United rose to prominence and deceased Rangers were very poor.

Celtic's support can nullify the home gates gained by other clubs accepting Newco by boycotting all away games basically if they want TNR money so badly you can't have ours as well. You've voted for cash over principle so we will make you pay. How can a new team having never played a game of football walk into the top flight of football ?? If Liverpool go bust will they get straight into the Premiership ???

It all boils down to right and wrong and they must pay the ultimate price. Do the other clubs not realise that taking them out means that even second is CL. Don't they see that Killie and Hearts took cups off Celtic. This is their chance instead of having to beat both the OF they only have to beat Celtic to be champions, that Hearts Dundee Utd, Motherwell, Aberdeen mounting a challenge will fill their staduims whoever they play, the games Celtic lost last season it is possible !! Do the ICT's etc know they will have an easier whipping boy to make it easier to stay in the top flight.

Why are they listening to all this TNR have to be there or the game is finished bullsh!t coming from the no tax paying freinds of Ibrox and the press who fear for their jobs with no Rangers.

It is simple deceased Rangers did not pay taxes while every other club payed their dues. They won trophies with players who had no right to be there, who they could not afford. They have written off all that debt and want a clean slate and TNR could be champions of Scotland next season (god forbid).

As for Walter Mitty where was he when Hector and the Reaper came calling ??

Lawell has to vote no and if he doesn't I hope the Green Brigade will lead the way. Rangers day did come !!! They are dead and buried !!

Now TNR should have their day coming too. Division 3 or Scottish football is dead.
