Just what I thought - not based on anything to do with football, just hoary old cliches.

Is anyone 100% sure how many games Blackpool will even play at Bloomfield Road?
Report morpteh mackem August 4, 2010 9:21 AM BST

I'm surprised Mark Langdon is tipping Birmingham to be relegated mind, don't think they will have a season as good as last season but don't see them being relegated.
Report morpteh mackem August 4, 2010 9:23 AM BST
must admit surprised at that too mm.
Report tuckyboy August 4, 2010 9:26 AM BST
No doubt Langdon has fallen into the "Joe Hart is better than Billy The Fish and therefore Birmingham will concede eight goals a game without him" trap.

Perhaps I should bite the bullet and take a walk up the shop imo.
Report Mick McCarthy For Pope August 4, 2010 9:29 AM BST
Surprise selections are a good thing though suely. If they all put up everything that odds on there wouldn't be much point reading it. You don't have to agree with him, but as long as it's well reasoned and he believes there's value in the price then surprise selections are just fine with me.

I like the random picks they do, but like Mick Mc, they need sound reasoning, not top players won't like a cold day in blackpool. Top players wouldn't want to play on a boggy rec against 11 hairy arsed northerners from the dog and duck, but would still win.

Yep or £50 a month, but since its 86 points up in 8 weeks,to £10 unit stakes you would be in front by £760, have a look at the sight your all big boys, make your own minds up.
Report sintonian August 4, 2010 10:38 AM BST
the extratimewinner services has a decent profit but the staking and odds would leave me feeling rather uneasy if I were a subscriber to be honest. Betting like that you'll only need a run of bad luck to set you back a long way.

Sintonian.

We aint afraid of laying shorties either, or backing longer price things?

Our opening world cup post was . . . back spain win at 9/2 and holland ew at 12s. . . . . .

The reason we set up site is because we are finding mental trying to get on with the books, there is a reason for that?? youl find nearly every bet we put up goes lower on here so if going green floats your boat???
Report DrGrimster August 4, 2010 11:58 AM BST
Sin . . . What you wont see on the "past results" page is the sound reasoning behind every bet.

These arnt just bets plucked out of anywhere, lots of time and effort goes into our reasoning.

Look at Birmingham's goal difference last season (-9) suggests they were in a false position. Lucky on injury front too. The new chairman is not exactly flashing the cash is he. I think at 7/1 there is value on backing them for relegation.

I have not backed Arsenal - team is too young.

I have backed P'Boro for promotion at 4/1 who had some good write up in RP, plus on here.

Blackpool will be relegated they have not got the resources to compete over a whole season, but 2/7 no thanks. I got 1/2 for them to finish below WBA which is a bit better odds. The 10/11 for bottom was tempting, bit if a team went into administration like Pompey it can change things. WBA are sound financially.

I also thought the Kilmarnock and Barnet bets were value.
Report AceyJC August 4, 2010 1:08 PM BST
What was the Kilmarnock bet please? Relegation?
Report kenilworth August 4, 2010 1:10 PM BST
Analyst, I agree with you on B'ham, 13 wins last season, every
one by a single goal, also they haven't got Joe Hart. Trouble
is, it's common knowledge and reflects in the various markets.
Blackpool, you say no thanks at 2/7 so would you not be a layer
if the price is too short ? Regards the 10/11 to be relegated,
they are 11/10 with the 'magic sign'bSadgood luck with your
other bets although I couldn't have Posh on my mind to go up.
Arsenal can't always be too young, Barnet have no money, don't
know anything about Killie. GL.Happy

LOL!

Cascarino has to be the worst pundit out there - he's not seriously tipped Everton to finish in the Top Four has he?
Report Mick McCarthy For Pope August 4, 2010 5:11 PM BST
He has tipped Everton to finish top four, yes. That's not the mystifying bit though. It's the fact that he's tipped it e/w that's funny. It's a win only market. You either finish in the top four or you don't. You can't back it e/w.

Generally I think it's a very good pullout even allowing for their continued insistence on using Mr.Cascarino and the slightly disappoining fact that Kevin Pullein, their headline tipster, has not put up a single ante post bet. Even for someone as selective as him it's inconceivable that there's no value whatsoever in any of the thousands of ante post markets out there.
Report kenilworth August 4, 2010 5:12 PM BST
I'm not sure what he is at, suggesting Everton 1 pt ew at 8/1.
8/1 is the price but ew ? Either they make the top 4 or they
don,t. I don't what else it can be.
Report kenilworth August 4, 2010 5:21 PM BST
Mick, sorry about my post crossing yours saying the same thing !
Regards Pullein, it looks like he could have penned that article
at least a month ago, likewise some other pieces, by others padding
out the betting guide.
BTW Mick, Pullein has some picks for each division on Page 3 in case
you missed it.
Report Mick McCarthy For Pope August 4, 2010 5:25 PM BST
Yes, you may be correct about the article being written a while back, Ken. Maybe he's on holiday currently, given that it was World Cup summer it wouldn't be unreasonable for him to be on holiday now. I agree with him that Morecambe may be a touch of value for what it's worth, though I couldn't agree about Leicester. I think Leicester may take their time to adjust to the very different footballing ideologies held by their manager last season and their manager this season.

Stoke 10th
Sunderland 9th
west ham 13th
