Was really surprised that when the Geordies come to Molineux on match 3 that they have been allocated a small part of the Jack Harris stand, instead of the whole of the lower Steve Bull. Always thought this was a team that would fill the Steve Bull Lower - the flank of the Jack Harris is only usually used by the Fulhams and Wigans of the Division. Most surprising (and disappointing - I have to move seats now)
One of the biggest myths portrayed by the media is that newcastle united fans are the loyalist in the world.
Sent loads of tickets back to united for the first game of the season, remember in the eighties when they were going well bringing 10,000 to old trafford, had a third up united road.
A couple of seasons later they were near the bottom, they brought 600 fans.
Loyal my a rse.

That is extremely surprising pounf - Only the few poorly supported Prem clubs refused the bigger allocation last season. Can't believe Newcastle didn't think they could sell 3,000. Maybe there's more to it?
As for you having to move seats my heart bleeds for you...spare a thought for those of us being made refugees for a whole season in 2011-12 when they knock our stand down!!

Sandancer - the point we're making is that we offer visiting clubs the choice of a small allocation of 2000 or so or a big allocation of 3500 or so, and Newcastle have elected to take the smaller allocation. Only the likes of Fulham, Blackburn, Bolton and Wigan did that last season. I'd have thought Newcastle could sell 3,500 for this game. That's what surprised me.

Mick, I've no doubt Newcastle fans would take 3,500 seats but we weren't given the opportunity. We don't choose the allocation, the club hierarchy do. I for one would have bought a ticket for that match if it was available and the fact the allocation is sold out says that I'm not the only one.

If away clubs take say 3500 tickets and fail to sell them they are still liable for all the unsold tickets,Newcastle obviously think they don't have the away support to sell 3500 tickets.

Start of the 84/85 season think they won there first 3 games (is that "going well" enough for you) they brought 10,000 few years later they managed 500-600.
They rarely sell out full allocation for old trafford and SJP is usually only full against us or sunderland.
Biggest media myth going.

Cantona, I was at Old Trafford many times in the 80's including a match where the TOTAL crowd was less than 30,000, there were 8,000 Newcastle fans in that crowd that day, it was the season we were relegated!! Man U finished 11th that season and just 22,000 of them at OT??????

I can also remember when Wolves won 4-0 at Newcastle, Steve Bull scoring all four, and the Wolves end was half empty !!!
Not to mention the time when the mackems couldnt sell their allocation for a derby match !! (more than once)

It was 4-1, it was a new years day when the whole of Wolverhampton had a hangover,.it was freezing cold and it was a very long away trip. And there's still bundles there, just watch the You Tube clip. That match is still infamous because loads of fans flew up there and Bull did the aeroplane celebration when he completed his hat trick, which lots of players have copied since.

Would that be our sabbatical which we won comfortably by nine points, with the backbone of the same side forming the team that beat you in the play-offs two seasons later, Donny?

MM For Pope. Steve Bull was sublime that day, a brilliant performance from a great striker in my opinion. I can also remember him scoring for England, wasnt given enough chances for his country.

if it was the won that spent a season in the tird division then yes it probably was
always remember des lynam, or whoever announcing sundlands promotion to the second division with the line " sundland are back where they belong, the second division"

Tie-ga, you're like that little scrote who sits beside Jabba The Hutt, hanging on his every word. Found the time when Sunderland lost 4-0 at home to Wolves yet? Didn't think so. On your trike son, it's past your bed time
