good write up from footy tipster...
Universidad de Chile vs Guadalajara - home win at 5/6. This bet follows a virtually identical line to the reversal of this fixture in Mexico last week, basically. This competition is the lifeblood of Universidad de Chile whereas it's little more than **** on the bottom of a shoe to Guadalajara. I don't recall the exact reason that Mexican sides dismiss this competition but I seem to remember it had something to do with there being greater financial rewards domestically and in the North American Champions League hence Mexican sides rarely doing well in this competition. Indeed, the only reason that Guadalajara are in this semi-final is because they simply had no other games to play following failure at domestic level. Since then, Guadalajara's domestic competition has started again and they've sold star striker Javier Hernandez to Manchester United so all is not well in their camp at the moment despite talent still being present in their side. The FA of both Chile and Mexco themselves show how much they support/oppose this competition tonight without the clubs' input being required, to be honest! The Chilean FA allowed Universidad de Chile to postpone their weekend trip to face Cobresal in order for them to be prepared for this game whereas Guadalajara are now playing their fourth game in ten days, albeit one of which was a friendly against Manchester United. Guadalajara are struggling to adapt to life without Hernandez and they have no interest in this competition - why would they be fancied here at all? They're going to be tired from so many games, not to mention the lengthy flight to the west coast of South America. Guadalajara have scored in two out of their last five away games in the Copa Libertadoes and Universidad de Chile is one of the most difficult sides in South America to beat at the moment so I really fancy the hosts here. Universidad are generally a very tenacious and strong side with the likes of Iturra often roughing up their opponents with great success. However, Universidad have really impressed me by scoring a lot of goals on the continent this season and I expect that trend to continue tonight. Although the odds on the home win are a bit shorter than I'd hoped, there really should still be value here if Guadalajara are as uninterested and tired as I expect them to be tonight. Verdict: Universidad de Chile to win at 5/6. |

what altitude is this being played at?Don't a lot of South American teams struggle playing in Chile because of altitude?or is it Bolivia?

Universidad de Chile usually plays its home games at the Estadio Nacional de Chile, located in the commune of Ñuñoa in Santiago. The Estadio Nacional's modernization process, which includes a roof, has forced the team to play home games in various stadiums across Chile. Universidad de Chile should make a return at the Estadio Nacional prior to 2011.

From Chivas website:
Atletico coach Jose Luis Real not have the whole team for this match against the Andean countries, it will be without Alberto Medina and Omar Esparza, who went out injured in the Omnilife Stadium opener against Manchester United. In addition to the casualties of Jorge Enriquez, Sergio Hugo Hernandez Avila and recovering from their injuries. Chivas will need to make an intelligent game to get the result you need and get the historic move to the Final, must defend itself properly and be strong at the time of attack, have the patience to handle the meeting. The University of Chile will seek to accomplish something historic. Table Andean also has twice been a step in the Libertadores Cup Final in 1970 removed by Peñarol in Uruguay, while in 1996 the River Plate of Argentina, left on the road. The Chileans will try to play with the apparent advantage that the marker, because the scoreless tie will give the pass to the final duel, and also showed in the match at the Estadio Azteca that are organized and implemented a team tactically and that can play this such meetings. Atletico coach Jose Luis Real, said on arrival at the U Santiago de Chile is a good team, "better than many think." The U de Chile has struggled to achieve positive results at home, because so far the 2010 edition of the continental tournament, only has two wins, two draws and one defeat, so do not be entrusted to deal with the Mexican team if they will not be a surprise. The winner of this key will be the finalist in the edition unprecedented 51 of the Libertadores Cup and will face the winner of the other Semifinal Brazilian teams contesting Internacional de Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo, which takes advantage of the Inter 1-0 Thursday visit to São Paulo. In the only confrontation that have had these two teams in official competition, was dated July 27 in the first leg of the semifinals with a 1-1 draw. |

Has U. Chile's trouble at home
Monday 2 August, 2010 Obtain a result on the field at the University of Chile that allows Chivas advance to the Copa Libertadores Final 2010 seems likely to happen considering that the local condition has not been one of the strengths of the blue in this set edition of the maximum continental fair, because in its previous three presentations could not get a win. The University of Chile won its first two games at home in this Copa Libertadores, both by a narrow difference, to be imposed on the Caracas FC 1-0 to Flamengo 2-1, but after that pair of wins at the stage group in the competition, the Andean team could not get a win in his home, a situation that makes it evident that the way to the Semifinals carved away from its territory. The series of three games without a win at home by the team led by Uruguayan Gerardo Pelusso commenced in the closure of the group stage of the goalless draw against Catholic University. Later in the game back in the second round against Alianza Lima, when he was standing and half out of the Cup, managed a draw dramatically by a score of 2-2 on a goal by Philip Seymour at minute 92 for prevail 3-2 on aggregate following their 1-0 win in the capital of Peru. In the quarterfinals against Flamengo, the story was similar for the Blues, because after earning a 3-2 win in the first leg game in Rio de Janeiro, the Brazilian team beat them 2-1 at the Estadio Santa Laura , where the last minutes were very tense for the fans in Chile. The classification of U Semifinals defined by the criterion of the double value of away goals to finish equaled the aggregate score 4-4. Those results are more even the match on Tuesday 3 between the University of Chile and Chivas de Guadalajara, as the Andean squad could not take advantage in his visit to Atletico as it did in the two previous stages he played. Now, the blue set does not have a difference that allows manage home match, a condition in which it was vulnerable during the Copa Libertadores. |
