Unfortunately, there have not been many signs of improvement on here.

Firstly, let's look at the behaviour. There was a thread created by Calmoan yesterday that seemed to be created with the intent of offending juan_sheet. After posting, there became a three way sniping session between calmoan, juan_sheet and LeoOnAHigh.

Gentlemen, I urge you to think about your behaviour. It's playground stuff, and you surely cannot be proud of yourselves?

I may make some observations about today's behaviour. But, before I do, I wish to share two observations from recent weeks.

One - I now understand the chit-chat element to this forum. People who follow the same sport build an affiliation to one part of this forum, and therefore want to discuss matters other than football with their 'friends'. This is acceptable.

However, this does not mean that behaving immaturely, starting threads with the sole purpose of winding each other up, and arguing as if anything on this forum matters, is acceptable. Please, think about what you're doing. Would your mother be proud of you if she read it?

Two - I believe that there was an attempt to copy me by someone calling themselves a Betfair Moderator. Let's make this clear - I am not a moderator. I am a sensible chap who wants this forum to be accomodating to individuals interested in football and betting.

Good luck with your bets and remember - before you post, think about whether you'd be embarrassed if your mother read the post. It might help open your eyes.

Winner winner,

I wonder why you feel the need to be so abusive? Such a shame.

If my mother read my post then she might think that I am spending too long on a lost cause, but she would appreciate that I am doing it with good intentions.

What I am saying seems to bypass you. If your mother seen you acting like a moderator on a forum she might think you have a problem. Post some bets and then I might contribute more on your threads.

Winner winner,

I'd appreciate it if you could put any points that you have across in a mature and calm manner, rather than swearing at me.

I am not acting like a moderator, I am simply appealing to people's better nature. I am aware that it is people who will have to change themselves as I have no power over them.

I will post up betting related threads when the forum is a betting forum. At the moment, I don't feel that it resembles one.

It's a cycle. There are few worthwhile betting threads because there are so many childish posters. Why would anyone want to share anything of interest with them?

The 'culture' of this forum is to applaud the attention seekers and the fantasists and put them on a pedestal.

But that's fine, let them get on with it. You should be secretly smiling at it all.

Rocket

My confusion with it starts from the fact that so many of the attention seeking threads attract contributions from people claiming to hate those types of threads.

It is surely common sense that ignoring those threads will lead to them going away, no?

What also amazes me is the anger that some people generate on here. I've seen sniping from LeoOnAHigh that is painful to watch, as he reacts to someone winding him up. It's truly tragic behaviour.

its true leo is a cretin.
Report mightymax August 2, 2010 11:57 AM BST
Juan_sheet - sorry, but your contributions are not good, but for a different reason to LeoOnAHigh.

Is there a reason for your contributions being mainly non-football related, and aimed at winding people up?
Report Juan_sheet August 2, 2010 12:01 PM BST
I take it you didnt see my rugby tip then.
Report mightymax August 2, 2010 12:03 PM BST
I didn't, no.

But if you have begun posting sport related threads then that is great news.

Perhaps you can stop the type of threads to which I refer, if you haven't already?

Post some bets and then I might contribute more on your threads.

The only people who 'post some bets' on this forum are morons looking for acclaim.

The threads are usually titled something like "United will walk this" and are started by tools hoping to be seen as 'a good tipster.'

Any decent thread contains (researched) opinion and discussion about prices, and it may or may not contain information relating the individual's bet.

Many of the worst characters on here 'post their bets.' They are cretins and the only benefit that it serves it to remind people, through their laughable reasoning, that there are plenty of mugs on here.
Report Winner_Winner_Chicken_Diner August 2, 2010 12:30 PM BST
some very cynical views there live forever. When I said post your bets, post your thoughts or opinion may have been better. Surely people posting up their bets are not just looking acclaim, maybe there are some honest decent posters?

Most people posting their bets on thsi forum these days, Winner, are clueless idiots looking for acclaim. They have little orno understanding of betting, value, or why they're getting the price they are. Genuine exchanges of views and opinions here are almost dead and have been since betfair changed their marketing approach from "sharp minds betfair" and "we welcome winners" to the current, mainstream, "catch all" approach. It's been great for their business I'm sure, but unfortunately a disaster for this forum.
Report Live Forever August 2, 2010 12:42 PM BST
I exclude the likes of marychain and some other who sometimes post 'tips' from the above.

He usually posts discussion on a price and reasons why it does or does not represent value in his view.

He does not say 'I am having XXXX on it' as far as I am aware.

And he does not post in a manner that seeks acclaim or seeks to let people know 'how good he is.'

Personally, I am not interested in the slightest in whether someone is backing something or how much they are having on. I am interested in informed and considered thoughts on a price and if the person, after all that, happens to mentioned they are backing it, then fair enough.

'Post your bet' type threads are most definitely a different beast though, designed purely for "fantasist/mug/look at me" type 'discussions'

this thread is just going to encourage the luntics to create even more idiotic threads in order to get a mention in dispatches.....remember mightymax, you dont have to read the thread, let alone comment on its contents !

Live Forever actually wants to die as soon as possible.

Hasn't gotten any love from his mom as a kid and hasn't gotten any love from any woman in his life to date.

Very sad, cynical and pessimistic figure. Sweats like a pig everytime he has to communicate with a stocks boy at the supermarket or lady receptionist when he has to pick up his welfare check.

Violencia,

I appreciate that you may feel this way. However, I believe that replying to the threads in question are the real reason for them continuing, and not a one off thread like this.

Look at this character, T-Rigg.

Dear, oh, dear.

At least make it slightly clever.

Time for me to log off. Carry on.
