Cheers. Thought it was probably Wed or thurs. Usually decent for reading on the toilet for a few days prior to the season start, if only to disagree with the majority of the opinions that are put up and are completely different to my own!!!

Are you 100% sure about that davescrazy (or anyone else) ? It's the only day of the year I buy the paper, and it's usually the Thursday before the Football League starts that they publish it.

Love the way they're promoting Mark Langdon's tipping in it for the coming season's premier league on the back of his World Cup tipping success with Spain. They seem to have forgotten his disaster that was tipping Liverpool for last season's prem, which is strange considering this feature is for that same comp rather than a World Cup.

Can't wait for Cascarino's tips

Does Arry still write for the racing post?

diploire, why is it a disaster to tip a loser ?
|
|
By:
probably because there are losers and there are losers - Liverpool were out of the title race by the end of August
|
|
By:
So he tipped Liverpool to win the Premier League, also
Spain to win the World Cup. What's wrong with that ? |

kenilworth, why do you always defend the racing post?
|
|
By:
Future - surely a better question would be why does everyone other than Kenilworth choose to slate them? I think the RP generally do a good job but you'd never know it from the waves of negativity on here.

Mick, thank you for that answer which was spot on.

They are better than average - as ever use your own judgements in alliance with theirs. They are paid to research football 8 hours per day which must put them at an advantage to many punters.

Kenilworth, my issue is not the tip so much, although it was shocking, but the way they promote their winning bets. This is a supplement to support domestic football and Langdon is doing the premier league again. His recent form in outright premier league tipping is dismal. However to try and make him sound good they decide to big up his success of tipping tournament favourites Spain to the World Cup. How about giving us RP readers a bit more credit and not mention anything, other than Mark Langdon is covering the premier league.
People that deserve a bit of credit are the Tom Segal - tipping a 33/1 winner yesterday and Steve Palmer with his Ross Fisher winner. If people are tipping long-term 4/1 and 3/1 shots I expect winners and anything less is poor. |

Analyst, I suggest they have only the same info to peruse
as we do, and I would amazed if they spent anything close to 8 hours a day looking at the same as we look at. I always read everything they publish perhaps for some bits of info I wasn't aware of, or had overlooked. Pullein has an advantage because of his access to stats regards corners, bookings, etc especially in Scottish footie, but he does use it wisely IMO. |
|
By:
VillaBoy, I really don't care for the racing post opinions thank you.
It's not my fault you've out priced yourselves. |
|
By:
The RP have the problem that the editor deems that all live matches and all Prem games require a selection. I would find it virtually impossible to make a value call in every single match they do.
|
|
By:
I would think they would employ an eight legged thing, from the sea to do it. It doesn't answer back, apparently.
|
|
By:
neogenic, I think you have hit the nail on the head, highlighting the fact
that every high profile match has to have selection of some kind whatever, from 'Joe Bloggs scoring the first goal' to there being '13+ corners' etc People should just read the analysis and with that plus their own view, do whatever, and ignore the picks. The picks are meaningless and should be treated as such. |

Kenilworth
Remember many on here have full time jobs which are nothing to do with football or betting - mine needs 50 hours per week. I tend to live on 4 hours sleep per day, but it sometimes catches up with me....zzzzzzz |
|
By:
Analyst, I'm not sure what point you are making.
Could you clarify ? |
|
By:
I realise that the Football League starts this weekend but the Premier League action will be of little assistance with around 2/3 of the business yet to be done.
