ROBERTO MANCINI last night insisted Manchester City's Premier League rivals are running scared of the mega-rich club.
City are set to take their summer spending through the £100million barrier with the capture of James Milner, their fifth summer signing, from Aston Villa this week.
But their splashing out has sparked criticism from Premiership gaffers who claim the club's willingness to stump up big money over and over again is ruining the market.
It's an idea City boss Mancini feels is rooted in jealously and he reckons his rivals are now in a panic over his club's lofty domestic and European ambitions.
He said: "I think they're scared."Only Man City are buying players but that's normal because we want to improve. All the other teams say these things about us because for 10 years there were only four teams challenging for the title. This season there will be five.
"Over the years, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham have all spent money. They've done in the past what we are doing now. It's no different."
And in a further example of City's willingness to keep on spending to win the title, Mancini said he has not given up on signing £50m-rated Liverpool striker Fernando Torres this summer.

just pre-season ramping, they will start shyte again, mancini will go, they will improve 2nd hlaf of season when the players actually learn how to play together.
Spend £100m+ when prize for premiership is £16m. Not very bright.
