I hope there's no moral high ground being taken here. This happens to us every year at Old Trafford, but funnily enough the GMP don't see it fit to do anything about it.

I am a Man Utd fan but I always support fanatical actions of football fans (regardless of support)
I will beat up the fans of Liverpool and Chelski (if I have to)
So those Liverpool fans deserve my applause

Shows what kind of people scousers are, ten litttle fu*kwits decide set on one bloke, then:
'Ian Criddle, prosecuting, told the court the park was full of people making their way to the match'
Noone tried to help, filthy cowards.

The report doesn't mention anywhere that this fella got stabbed. Seems a bit weird that you're suggesting that they'd stab anyone who tried to help him, but not him.

ah again, fkqmz can't hold an discussion without getting personal, insults are very forgettable so i'll take your last piece of advice. also, i'd prefer get a few cuts and bruises than watch someone get set upon.

no leo you dont seem to understand, these are not thugs out for a fight. there are gangs in anfield, norris green and kensington who are psychopathic animals who will spill your guts on the street if you so much as look at them. you wont come out with cuts and bruises, you'll come out in a black bag!

Iam sure all you younger gents on here will say it does. But whats the Liverpool Echo is not the norm anymore. A few years back Bolton fans got sent to HMP for a attack again on Man Utd fans.
My point being theres plenty of gents who have to go to there local police station on a saturday at 15.00 to sign in with there banning orders. But most of them that i no of i am going back a few years maybe 5 where for stupid drunken bull**** and not a meet as the gents like to call it.
Go in any city centre on a weekend and you see more violence than at any prem match...
Check Blackpools Fixture list and times of kick off with the teams that use to run a mock in the 70s and 80s......
Football Violence just doesnt happen anymore!Iam sure all you younger gents on here will say it does. But whats the Liverpool Echo is not the norm anymore.A few years back Bolton fans got sent to HMP for a attack again on Man Utd fans.My point being
We don't know any of the background to what happened there. They were obviously looking out for someone. Could be they'd already had a bit of a slap earlier themselves and were trying to pick off whoever as they came back through. Bad form to do it in the middle of fans though.
As for people on both sides who actually want to fight each other, who gives a f**k. So long as they are organised and do it away from innocent bystanders, let them just get on with it.

no i referred to the people who didn't help as filthy cowards, i said the incident itself says a lot about the people in general, I wouldn't consider these personal insults.
fkqmz you have a very immature, 'green street-esque' look upon things.

Unfortunately fkqmz is right here, the people that step in to incidents like this can end up on the recieving end. If someone involved is threatening to stab the victim everyone would think twice about being a hero. In a perfect world both Liverpool and united fans would have stepped in but the point scoring on this thread over a shocking attack shows why this behaviour will never dissappear. On saturday Wolves fans were threatened with knives because pre arranged trouble (from both sets of hooligans) left all wolves fans targets. These thugs should be marginalised by all supporters.Whichever side they are from.

What exactly do you mean by marginalised? Ordinary fans already don't mix with firms.
The point is that it will always go on to a greater or lesser extent. It ought to be the responsibility of well run firms to arrange meets out of the way of everyone and just get on with it. Thats the best you can expect from the situation I'm afraid.

by marginalised I mean, not getting involved in name calling and making statements like"this shows what scousersare like" and "well it happens at Old Trafford".That simply gives the morons an excuse to carry on. agree the so called firms keep their distance from ordinary fans, but that don't stop the wannabes giving someone a kicking when numbers are on their side.

They we're either looking for trouble or very naive imo...Probably wanted to say they'd taken some Cass Pennant type piss take walk round through Stanley Park.
Must have forgotten about 2005.

my guess they were spotted as Mancs and the group of Liverpool fans knew they were coming. Had this before at matches, some little kid approaches and gives it the big un trying to get a reaction, lo and behold you walk round the corner there is 50 blokes looking for a mouthy away fan to smack in.

have you read the article, the mancs were trying to get to the ground and just got set upon.
leo sadly i speak from local knowledge and experience, i worked in the bookies round there for years. you however are extremely naive.

It wont stop but fighting in city and town centres wont either.
Imo football violence is not as bad and never will be as it was. What you get now is small pockets of young males because there the only ones who can afford to go to prem matches week in week out. Who read all the books of the good old days which just say we ran you then read the other teams book and they ran you. Then watch the new Firm which is **** unless like me i loved seing all the old clothes and Trainers which i had as a teenager! Then go to the match and you can guess the rest.
I have a classic pair of Adidas kick Espana 82 the blue ones.

I think its about time someone wrote one of those hooligan books and tells the truth,
Went to such & such a ground, got battered, then went to so & so, got filled in. X team visited us & turned us over etc etc.
It's a bit like betfair, nobody ever loses.

Dave:
2005 was Everton valley, generally a bad day to be 'one of the lads'. Utd were given a send off by Leeds at Picadilly, before being on the receiving end of a pasting by '40 of Liverpool's finest'(quote from a manc in attendance) in Stanley Park before the game.
After the game they were being escorted to Lime St when about 400 ferel Everton youths attacked and as you can imagine a beating occured.
If you want to read a decent book get 'Boys from the Mersey' by Nicky Alt. Its a bit too professional scouse for me but its an alternative to the cass pennant 'four of us ran over 9,000 of em' books. Most of it focuses on bunking and robbing abroad during the eighties etc.... Basically plays down a lot of the violence and says it was never as endemic as people like to make out nowadays.
On a personal note, must say that anyone over the age of 21 who gets involved in this sort of stuff really needs to sort their life out. Nothing sadder than seeing some 40 something decked out in Stone Island still clinging on to his 'firm' for some sense of belonging.

Have read the above book and its a good read my fave bit is where he hides in the bin after the Millwall game.
As Shrood mug says its not like any off the London firms books if they did that much running we would of won the olympics all through the 80s.
