Most bookies open at 10 a.m. on Sundays now, otherwise it'll be 11 a.m.
Report MMisapr1ck July 25, 2010 1:11 AM BST
The shop opening hours vary between shops but are typically 10.15 - 9.30 Mon to Fri, 10.00 - 9.30 Sat and 11.00 - 6.00 Sun

My local Will Hill have just pushed their opening hours back from 8.30 to 10 or 10.30 Confused

The need to cut labour costs must slowly becoming more of a priority than making sure they're open as necessary to compete with the others. They're ghost towns early on and late at night.

Couple of years ago all opening times seemed pretty standard across the board. Now though, and going into the future, I can see regional differences everywhere as they all look to cut costs.
Report clacherholiday2 July 25, 2010 1:21 AM BST
sunday the lads is 10-6 and hills 10-6.15.
Report Veridis Quo July 25, 2010 1:24 AM BST
In that 15 minutes at the end of Sundays is there a migration of FOBT players from Lads to Hills? Or do they ready themselves by getting there early so they get a seat? [;)]
Report MMisapr1ck July 25, 2010 1:24 AM BST
Really Clacher? Every Hills ive ever been to opens @ 11
Report Facts_only_please July 25, 2010 1:26 AM BST
Misaprick, you are wrong.

Generally, the greater population the shop can potentially serve, the longer the opening hours are, I seem to detect.

Mate of mind said there's a 24-hour Hills in Belfast. Can anyone confirm this? He's not the lying type.
Report Veridis Quo July 25, 2010 1:28 AM BST
Obvs the competition is a big factor too.
Report Facts_only_please July 25, 2010 1:28 AM BST
No bookies can open on a Sunday in Northern Ireland
Report MMisapr1ck July 25, 2010 1:31 AM BST
Well unlucky for NI then 24 hours shop Shocked what do they bet on @ night
Report azertyioup_the_2nd July 25, 2010 1:33 AM BST
No he's lying Veridis. They would not be granted a licence to trade 24 hours.
Report Veridis Quo July 25, 2010 1:34 AM BST
That's what I thought, Facts. Not the debating type so just left it there. Some people...
Report Veridis Quo July 25, 2010 1:40 AM BST
Cheers for clearing that up.

What about bookies in airports? If an out-flight is taking some folk to Shanghai...
Report MMisapr1ck July 25, 2010 1:43 AM BST
Airports never seen one there Shocked Would be same as shop times though, I know the train stations in London are a bit different same times midweek but on a sunday stay open until 8
Report clacherholiday2 July 25, 2010 2:34 AM BST
