citeh appear to have limitless dosh,,if barca dont get fabregas then a front two of torres and villa may appeal...ibra on his way out .
By:

When: 25 Jul 10 01:49
Barca havent got the cash, will struggle to offload ibra for decent money. I cant see why he'd want to go to city. I hope and i reckon he'll give liverpool another crack this year, if we fail to qualify for CL and have a poor season then yeh i agree he'll be on his way

Is it true Woy can't get in contact with him and Torres won't answer Woys calls?

If he doesn't want to play he can go.

However, he is bright and realises that Liverpool is set up perfectly for him and no other top team would do that. The only other top team he would slot into as well would be United and that won't happen.

Saying all that, amortisation may force Liverpool to sell.

Without doubt that is one of the most stupid things ever been said on this forum.  The top players can play in any team and any formation.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson admits he is running out of options in his bid to keep Fernando Torres at Anfield.

The new Reds boss is hoping Torres will follow captain Steven Gerrard's example and publicly commit himself to the club but he concedes the player has misgivings.

Hodgson, who briefly met with the Spain international for the first time last week, insists Torres' apparent reluctance to commit himself to another season with Liverpool pre-dates his time at the club.

"Unfortunately, I cannot do much more," Hodgson admitted in quotes reported by the News of the World.

"His beef is with the club and not me.

"Fernando's situation has nothing to do with me, he made that perfectly clear over the phone during the World Cup and when I met him face-to-face.

"He knows what I would like to do with the club. He knows how much I value him.

"But his issues are with what has gone on in the past rather than the future.Laugh

"If he has problems with the club for things in the past, it is difficult for me to dismiss that."

Benayoun 6m,riera 4.2,insua 5m add that to releasing aurelio and degan and there is the money you asked about. Torres will never ever play for real madrid, barca dont have the cash and we wont sell him to man utd so if city or chelsea want to pay us 80 million then fair enough,we will buy 5 or 6 top players to replace him. Keeping gerrard was more important imo.
By:

Why was keeping Gerrard more important?  Torres if fit is one of the top strikers in the world where as Gerrard is well past his best.  Gerrard was average (at best) for both Liverpool and England last season.

were do you get this`gerrard his way past his best nonsense`england were crap in the world cup but he was one of the best players which doesnt say much for rooney , oh and mourinho wants him , cr4p manager ?

Gerrard was crap at the world cup.  Cole and Milner were the only ones who played ok.  Has Mourinho bid for him?

Because we wouldnt get half the money for stevie that we would for nando and nando is injured alot of the time. Gerrard was average for liverpool last season and as for being average for england,so was the whole team and i dont really care about england if im honest. Other than last season gerrard has been outstanding for use getting goals and assists every single year and a great leader, torres is replaceable where as gerrard isnt. I quite like you davey but i really dont take anything serious that an everton fan says about gerrard, his record speaks for itself and i guess thats why everton fans sing about him when playing wigan away.
By:

When: 25 Jul 10 13:40
When i say torres is replaceable i mean by using the 60-80 million we would demand we could buy maybe 5 or 6 players with it.
By:

When: 25 Jul 10 13:44
so gerrard isnt replaceable? jeez youre well fcuked in a season or 2 then.
By:
mehmet j mook
When: 25 Jul 10 13:51
you say he is muck so why will we fcuked?

Who can we get that is going to be a better player than gerrard? Although there really isnt much point in asking you as you are an everton fan.

Its like when utd sold ronaldo,he was unreplaceable.

daveyboymoyes is spot on.

Gerrard has gone stale now and any bid for him over £20 million should be seriously considered. Torres is World Class and is in his prime. The club needs his goals.
By:
mehmet j mook
When: 25 Jul 10 13:59
who could we buy for 20 million to replace him with? Every single liverpool fan who knows anything about football will disagree with selling gerrard. Torres is world class in his prime and id be the 1st to keep him IF he came out and said he wanted to stay,if he doesnt want to stay we should sell him and make a big profit and buy 5 or 6 players to make the whole squad stronger.

its interesting how if gerrard were to leave then his likely destination would be real madrid, the biggest club in the world with possibly the best living manager in the world with the exception of possibly fergie. Must be muck.
By:

When: 25 Jul 10 14:04
you could try and get ozil though cant see him wanting to go to a mid-table team.
as far as im was aware utd hadnt replaced ronaldo. have they?!
By:

When: 25 Jul 10 14:07
Do you always believe the NOTW?

Gerrard is a top earner at the club who contributes less and less with every passing game. If he doesn't go now then he will be worthless and just sucking a massive salary out of the club that could go towards 4 or 5 young, talented players.
By:
Goretski
When: 25 Jul 10 14:08
Fergie, although undoubtably an extremely good manager has also been an extremely lucky one aswell!

Do agree with mehmet, would be extremely hard to replace gerrard regardless of what the knockers think
By:
mightymoyes
When: 25 Jul 10 14:08
to compare him to ronaldo is laugable too.
By:
mehmet j mook
When: 25 Jul 10 14:12
no azertyuiop i watch season after season of him being one of the best midfielders in the world,1 bad season doesnt make him rubbish, can i ask who you support?

I asked who we could replace him with, you told me ozil but then sadi we couldnt get him so that hasnt answered the question.

Not to sure about him myself anyway, seen him have a few good games at the WC but other than that ive not seen a great deal of him and plenty of other teams who have more funds than us are interested in him, maybe if we sold torres he might be an option, along with players like llorente from bilbao,im a huge fan of his,a far far better player than edin dzecko for half the price he is demanding.

entitled to your opinion MM,as i said before i dont really take anything everton fans say about gerrard seriously though.
