Joe Cole has signed, apparently Huntelaar is going to sign, Jovanovic has signed, Gerrard is staying, hopefully Torres is staying and if Mascherano stays as well then they will be looking pretty strong.

One of the main problems of last season was the lack of striking power up front, often with Ngog used as a stand in striker when Torres was injured. Now it seems they are going to have an abundance of strikers to choose from.

Really they need Mascherano to stay though, they don't want to be losing quality players like him. Also it's important that Torres stays but they have got other options now if he does leave.

Must admit i am feeling a lot better about things than i was at the end of last season.
Strike force will be stronger, midfield too.Left back and CH needed, then i think we will compete for the league.
Report jbj July 24, 2010 8:12 AM BST
i think they will be more disiplined at the back and concede less goals this year which automaticaly eases the pressure to score 2 or 3 goals a game. Agree with budd ^^ about LB and CB needed. Will get rid of the zonal marking at set pieces which should halve totals goals against straight away, think a return to the top 4 is best they could hope for this year but now there are 6 teams going for 4 spots and somethings gotta give hope its not us!!!! im a Spurs fan btw.

Joe Cole has signed...No big deal, reserve and over hyped. Gets a better player the more his round ass sits on the bench
apparently Huntelaar is going to sign....Shown himself to be very average so yes good signing as the two fit hand in hand
Jovanovic has signed...The replacement Voronin
Gerrard is staying..Past it
hopefully Torres is staying.....Living of one season exploits. Injury prone crock
Mascherano...Ciao

All in all they show have a good season

Joe Cole: permanently crocked. Chelsea wouldn't play him, England wouldn't paly him. Summat not right with the kid. Good luck with throwing money away on that lad.

Jovanovic is 29 and has been playing in Belgium. How much do you know about him? How many times have you seen him play ( is he the fabled 'missing piece of the jigsaw?')

Gerrard: any team would be better without him screwing things up for the proper players

Torres: injured for two seasons. Why is this season going to be any different?

Mascherano: Gone. if not physically, then in his head.

"An abundance of strikers to choose from" WHO?

This all sounds like the usual nonsense from Liverpool fans. They been trying to convince themselves since 1991 that they are league winners. that's 20 years ago, fellas.

Spurs; Chelsea; Arsenal; Man City and Man U all ahve stronger squads.
Report Avocado July 24, 2010 10:12 AM BST
Are four strikers to choose from are Torres, Kuyt, Jovanovic and Huntelaar. Kuyt used to play as an out and out striker before joining Liverpool and scored a lot of goals in the dutch league.

Yeah United have got a great squad, Danny Welbeck, Macheda, great players. Giggs and Scholes set to draw their pension soon. They did have one good player but they sold him to Real Madrid and then replaced him with a Wigan player.

Be over the moon with 4th to be honest.

I think Spurs will struggle this season so it's basically out of City and Liverpool for that 4th spot.Yes,City will have the players/squad but i've still got reservations about their manager getting the best out of them.

As it stands now,i'd slightly favour City but if Masch stays,i think it's a toss of the coin such is his importance to LFC

Huntelaar!

I prayed Spurs wouldn't sign him as I don't believe he is good enough for us, let alone Liverpool. Good luck to them if they want him and in truth, I hope they get him so that I can establish what I believe to be true... he isn't a Premiership player!

Report Dylan1975 July 24, 2010 12:48 PM BST
be very careful about the Europa they may choose to sacrafice that comp to focus on the league. It will be a very inexperienced that plays the 1st leg at least because most if not all of the world cup players won't figure and Liverpool had more players than most at the World Cup.

Very weak team today sint

Liverpool: Cavalieri, Kelly, Ayala, Kyrgiakos, Darby, Jovanovic (Degen), Spearing (Palsson), Lucas (Shelvey), Amoo (Robinson), Ngog (Dalla Valle), Eccleston (Ince).

Subs who played in brackets.

Im a lot more positive going into this season than I was a month ago. I think we will finish 3rd or 4th. No title though, sadly.

I think Liverpool will do better than last season, but they wont win it. They will be more in the mix for 4th to 6th IF Torres is fit.

Gerrard is near the end of his career now, definitely past his peak. Mascherano was there last season, J.Cole replaces Benayoun (I'd say Cole is better, but not a massive amount in it). Carragher and Johnson are both poor defenders, Carragher in particular is past it as a centre back. The squad is still too thin; injuries to Masch and Torres and who comes in?

6th would be a par season, unless Torres is fit and on fire, in which case I think 5th would be par, 4th would be a good achievement. Anything beyond that would need a miracle imo.
