What is the best time to place a bet on here? I generally bet on short price favourites, football only, high liquidity games like premiership, la liga and world cup. Is it best to wait until just before kick off? I just do match odds backing the favourite.

I backed Spain to win but I paced the bet quite early, about 24 hours before the game kicked off. I think I would have got a better price if I'd waited.

are you just blindly backing at any odds?

short priced favs have been drifting over night, same with argentina but that was this morning

No, I'm checking what odds the bookies are offering first and then placing my bet. When I placed my bet on Argentina the bookies were offering a top price of 1.4. A price of 1.46 was offered on here at the same time, so I took the 1.46 on here. Now I see the price has gone up to 1.57 on here and 1.5 with the bookies.

However in the past, when I've waited longer before placing my bet, the price has gone the other way and I've ended up placing my bet too late to get the best price, so not sure whether to bet early or late.

Watching the way the odds move is the big thing on BF.

I've lost out on getting a better price on Argentina. I backed them at about 1.46.

I'm not very happy about placing my bet at 1.46 and now seeing 1.57 available.

WC games have shown supa dupa teams are not a cert, everything is tight, so most favs have been drifting.Spain and Brazil were the only one,s to be nailed down, pricewise. and look how those matches turned out.

just because it drifted it doesn't mean they're suddenly going to win

if you decided on a selection and a price, stick with it. if you're not confident (which you dont seem to be) you need another approach or you'll forever be at the whim of the market maker and considering you only bet in match odds and that's where any move will happen first, it might be a good idea

or at least watch the market. could you not have got out once the drift was under way?

Every time I leave it until near kick off the price contracts and if I place a bet early the price goes out. I give up.

I've already put a maximum bet on Argentina, can't afford to put any more on. Just wish I'd waited for the better price. I can see why the price has drifted because South Korea aren't a bad side and Argentina are pish sometimes.

i think veron being injured has been factored in

If anything that bald coot being injured should be a bonus for them. Maradonna should have picked Cambiasso for the squad and played him instead.

Why?

Just that if you keep lumping higher on "certs" you,ll be gone, quick. If you keep it low you,lll last longer and if your balance goes up you know you are good enough for this place. It ain,t easy, it,s dog eat dog.

I'm not saying it's a cert I just fancy it. If Argies don't win I'll have to reassess but will wait and see what happens first. I've got a few years betting experience now but knowing when to place the bet at the right time on here is bugging me because I don't really want to be hanging around waiting for prices to move.

take the starting price then?

A lot of the stuff I bet on is stuff people label as "certs" but I know better than that. I've lost bets at odds of 1.07 and 1.03 before so if this one comes in it will be a huge win by my standards. The biggest price I've bet on in the past few months was Chelsea to beat Villa in the cup semi final, that was about the same price as Argie are now.

Would an hour before kick off be a sensible time to place my bets? I might lose out on a bigger early price sometimes but generally I think I would get a better price more often than not?

So far group rounds? Prices seem to be best, on heavy favs, about 2hrs before KO.

What about for Premiership, la liga, serie a and champions league games? same?
By:

No, big names get lumped before Ko but what day? how many other matches being played? Money? Nothing is certain.

its a gamble avocado. take the starting price

poorer than expected lineup and the price goes up etc too many variables to guess each game

best  chance would be get in to the market as soon as it is released and put some offers up. thats usually when the highest and lowest prices are matched

best time to bet is 10 mins into the match, as long as its 0-0 ;)
