Palmer it is time to face the facts.England will probably win their group because it is terrible but will struggle against either Germany or Serbia and be lucky not to get taken apart. The USA were actually a bit worse than I expected them to be although they were pretty organised. England have a lot of individual talent but I am not sure if I have ever seen an England team playing as a cohesive unit. I don't know if it is lack of motivation or poor organisation or just that they are not good enough. It is gonna end in tears again

People on here require a 3-0 win, minimum, and if not then we have no chance. No consideration for factors that will change in the tournament, no consideration for key personnel.
Clueless morons.

no mightymoyes, the only people who think that are the ones that have been owned by me, having tried to mock me and failed miserably.
I make good, intelligent points, but the forum just struggles to deal with people at a higher level of intelligence unfortunately.
I find the whole thing quite amusing.

the problem is, teams don't win tournaments by constantly conceding possession. Unless you're Inter Milan, and have superhuman confidence and structure, which we don't. Against any decent side we will struggle to get the ball back, struggle to make enough chances, and end up being unable to clinch games. Then come the penalties..

Lux, completely agree, and I was amazed that Carrick didn't replace Milner last night, with Gerrard moving to the left.
Missing Barry is massive - it's all well and good deciding what we will do with the ball, but we have to have it - and keep it - before that becomes important.
I'm optimistic about Capello changing it and dealing with that issue - it's why Barry has been such an important player for him in the past.

If you read a proper newspaper because you think it makes you smart, then you are not.
If you read a proper newspaper because you want to read intelligent comment, debate and read news put across sensibly, then you are intelligent.
The same goes for the Sun.
If you read it knowing that it produces drivel, then it isn't so bad.
But if you read it and take on board the opinions and news being written, then you are stupid.

OTHERWISE IT DOES NOT.
Are you suggesting that people read the Sun to elevate their self worth?
I did note that in yesterdays edition you could get a free England Flag though.

Agreed - if King is injured then we will be severely weaker at the back.
Carragher reads the game better than Dawson or Upson I think, which you need alongside Terry, but he is very slow!

For clarification purposes, magic man is still in a tantrum having been owned, by me, recently.
I shall therefore be laughing and pointing, but not engaging.

mad paddy 13 Jun 10 12:06 I'm a liverpool supporter but carragher will be found out by the better strikers, no doubt about it.
You are just the man that I need to talk to. Why are people backing Carragher to be the next Liverpool manager? This punting is totally beyond my comprehension.

Magic Man is a pro punter, or so he tells us. His total focus is on making $$$s. Furthermore he has been doing this for a whole 3 weeks now.

It's all rather amusing when he's being mocked Alex, but I like to call a halt once I've achieved my aim, as per the quote above.
Right, back to England.
Carragher is a liability, yes, but he is maybe good enough to see us through against the likes of Algeria, Slovenia and maybe Serbia, France?
We will require a bit of luck, but a fresh King for a semi would suddenly look good.

mad paddy 13 Jun 10 12:14 Yeh i have seen that, absolutely not a chance in hell, some people have to much money i think. He wouldn't be in the top 50 candidates.
Somebody was good enough to get Robbie Fowler added to the list and I note that people have actually backed him too.
I note that Eddie Izzard is on the list for the next London Mayor as well. The world is going mad![:(]

Palmer 13 Jun 10 10:01 ... mixed with a splash of infant school.
So many people with no many clueless judgments regarding English football.
Incredible.
I did try reading the whole thread but Palmer's constant belittling is too tiresome.
Palmer, before this competition started you told me that King was a good selection and that I should wait until the tournament started to see that you are right. WIth King managing 45 minutes and out for at least the next match, will you now admit you were wrong?
We also disagreed on whether Capello was correct to pick wildly differing teams and formations in the build-up to the World Cup, with the inexplicable decision in the last full-international to start with three players who did not even make his squad. What was the outcome of all this experimentation? Milner on the left with Lampard and Gerrard in the centre of a 4-4-2 in a very disjointed performance. I predicted that as a result of his pre-World Cup selections we would not play as a team and you disagreed. Do you still think you're right?
From memory, the only thing we agreed on was that Carragher shouldn't be in the squad. I take it that's one thing we still agree on.
I also predicted before the match that Green would be our downfall. I do not recall your views on Green.
My conclusion is that you are one of the "many people with no [sic] many clueless judgments regarding English football."
