ferguson's decision to play the useless and ineffective valencia was mystifying. he then waits until united are losing before making changes. no tactics involved, just panic. if ferguson insists on playing valencia, united won't qualify for europe.
didnt no you spent 17 mill on wingers to stop other teams full back getting forward, thought you spent that type of money on a winger to take people on,get crosses in thge box and score a few goals, but well done cole was quiet and utd lost 1 0 job done

we sold ronaldo because he wanted to go, and have had to change the way we play as a result. playing more of a conventional 4-4-2 this season, with valencia playing more rigidly as a right winger than ronaldo ever did.
today we set up with 3 men in the centre of the park, valencia out on the right and giggs floating towards the left and into the centre. valencia's job was to get forward when possible, but make sure ashley cole (pretty much chelsea's only natural source of width) didn't have much space down the left. tactic worked and we kept it tight.
in other games this season, when we're not playing our main rival for the title, he's been able to play much freer. one performance when he's asked to do a job for the team (which he does excellently) and you're saying he's a waste of money?! wise up!!
in the end today, we were unlucky, on the end of a few poor refereeing decisions. we were the better team on the day and never deserved to lose, but we did and we move on. it happens in football. it doesn't make the referee's performance acceptable though.
going back to the original points though, to say the team selection, or valencia's performance in nullifying cole, while getting forward when he could, was the reason we lost, is simply wrong, uneducated, mildly embarrassing, but somehow suits this forum.
