I would agree with those two, but really the referee is crucial in this kind of game. An early card seals the deal, but one "who trys to let the game flow" could mean only 2-3 cards whole game |

It's Atkinson, who IMO, trys to be a "players referee" and is not Card happy.
34 yellows in 9 games, so just under 4 per game. Referred Man Utd twice, two bookings. Chelsea twice, one booking. He has shown 4, 5 or 6 yellows every game, apart from Chelsea v Liverpool, only showing two in that game. I remember that game reasonably well, he played the "I'm not booking players unless I really have to" strategy, and talked to a lot of players. I am pretty sure the cards came second half. I am tempted to go for Fletcher, but not sure its a great bet - he has a longstanding injury and is not 100% - could be in danger of not lasting the 90. Rooney playing up front on his own is a recipe for frustration, may be the one to pick. |
