What happens to my stake in Texas Hold-em if I win? Do I get it back as I would in a game with my mates, or, do Betfair keep it, which is the way it appears on my statement.

For once, words almost fail me.
What happens to your stake on the sports exchange if you lose?

Obviously you get your stake back if you win. pmsl

Thanks Grunweld for your comments. Explain this to me then.
Turbo Texas Hold-em, bet placed £3.31 at odds of 2.92, amount returned to my account is £6.36, which is (2.92-1)*£3.31. The stake has not been returned and indeed never has been in any game that I have played. I must confess that I have only just noticed this and clearly you haven't.

The question was, "What happens to my stake in Texas Hold-em?" Has anyone got the correct answer please?

When you place a bet, the liability is deducted from the Available to Bet balance while the game is in progress. If the bet loses nothing further happens to the balance.

If the bet wins, then the Available to Bet balance is immediately restored to its condition before the bet was placed (note that this may occur before the end of the game in some games eg. 2 card run in HiLo) and any winnings then credited and commmission deducted.

Exactly the same happens on the Sports Exchange, have you never bet on any sports?

I have copied the following data from my account statement, obviously the forum doesn't support html formatting so it is not that easy to follow in the text format, however, I am afraid that I cannot see anywhere in these calculations how my stake is returned to me if I win.

I win often but only small amounts, but I really would like to know who it is that enjoys the benefit of my stake which as far as I am concerned is not returned to me in exchange games.

Yes, I bet on sports often and the stake is always returned in the event of a winning bet.

I have posted a more complete statement that is far easier to read. Out of interest I have emailed Betfair and asked the question. I will of course report back if I get a reply.

In the mean time I am looking forward to your answers. Thanks for your help.

Useful comments only please.

I have just cut the following from the Texas Hold-em "home page"

What are decimal odds?

Decimal odds express your total return for the stake you place.
Therefore even money is expressed as 2.0 - you get back your initial stake plus the same again as winnings - twice your initial stake. To see other odds use the odds converter.

As you can see from my account statement this is not what is happening.

Am I missing something? If I am I am ever hopeful that an experienced forum user might be able to provide the answer with swearing at me or resorting to miserable jibes and taunts. Thanks.

Yes

I think most of us believe it's a wind-up.

If that is what is happening in your account, then something is seriously wrong.
You would appear to be being credited when you lose and debited minus commission when you lose.
That is completely the reverse of what should happen.
If thi is really happening then BF must and should act immediately to correct this strange default.

Btw I wish mine would do that, at least sometimes.
Might be the only way to really make money on Xgames.

I've just done a quick analysis of my games account and amazingly I am credited when I win and don't have anything deducted when I lose - a bit like a trainer's bookies account - whatever next?

And you still manage to lose ?
I'll be damned.

I now have the absolute answer, so thank you for all of your helpful comments. I am especially grateful to Grunweld who of course provided a summary of the correct answer in the first instance, in that the stake is never deducted from my account unless t I lose and so it follows that Betfair cannot return something that they haven't taken in the first place. This bodes well with good housekeeping.

Good, anyway the thread was fun while it lasted and pleased that we can have a bit of witty banter without throwing pure insults.

If you were using a bot like x-feeder to place or program your bets, you would see the two account balances displayed in real time:
Available Funds & Funds

Available Funds is debited by the liability every time you place a bet.
If you then change the liability mid-game, eg. by placing a lay hedging bet, then the Available Funds will increase to reflect your new position. During the game, if you don't trade out, then the Available Funds will be less then Funds balance. Both balances will be the same after the game is settled.
