Just saw a Royal Flush on X-Texas holdem (check it out on results) game at 21:17 20/08/09 has anyone else ever seen one, evidently they are quite rare. Could some clever boffin quote me the odds of occurance in a four player game please.
I don't know what the probability is, but it will be extremely low as it is the highest hand in poker, although any other straight flush will have the same probability. But it is totally irrelevant, as you would never be offered odds that reflected the overall probability at any point in the game.

I reckon that if you just take a standard 52 card deck and select 5 cards at random that the probabilty of getting a royal flush is as follows: Because the suit is irrelevant for the first card the probability is 20/52, however the next card the suit must be the same as the first card so the prob. is 4/51, 3rd card 3/50, 4th card 2/49 and last card is 1/48 this equates to 480/311,875,200 or 1/649,740. I had £2 on that hand so where is my £1,299,480 Betfair. Only joking. The probabilty of getting a Royal Flush in Texas Holdem must be slighty lower, but can anyone tell me what it is?
