I give Taylor very little chance of beating MVG ,. The last time i saw them play MVG looked right in Taylors eyes before hand and i knew then the cast was set ! MVG Thrashed he that day and will do the same again tomorrow ! Also Taylor proved what a lowlife he is last night and i think that will affect him on the night .. He knows himself that he cant beat MVG with a cold or WITHOUT a cold

Any result is possible. 4/9 MVG is plain stupid though. Taylor's record in finals is unreal and despite patches of brilliance Van Gerwin was dodgy on the doubles missing the first 11.
Report knavesmire007 December 31, 2012 9:25 AM GMT
It's MVG's first World Final. He might be found out by the occasion.
It's a tough one to call but you know what you're gonna get with Taylor...99 average and solid finishing.MVG plays fast and hits flashy 180s and outs quickly.A tad overfated cause people tend to think fast players are better than they are.Thing in MVG's favour is that Phil isn't the player he was but his B game is still world class.
This match is either the making of a new great player or the making of the next Jimmy White.

Taylor will have sweated his cold out today plus MVG is hampered by a leg injury that was hurting him ln semis. It is MVG first final and so he will be nervous. MVG nearly lost V an out of form Lewis, a poor Wade took 4 sets off him. MVG missing doubles throughout tournament, lost 2 sets in early around also. MVG lost to RVB in last final, a man Taylor brushed aside yesterday while his cold was at its worst. Experience counts for a lot and we know how many Finals Taylor has been involved in. Taylor could win this just as confortably as any other final he won. 5/6 is an incredible price.
Report Zazu December 31, 2012 9:47 AM GMT
I really hope MVG wins but I am amazed to see 10/11 taylor. his 100+ checkouts are just relentless

Didnt drop a set in the quarters or semis vs Thornton/Hamilton and missed 2 darts at tops yesterday to win 6-1.
Report pollybournemouth December 31, 2012 10:30 AM GMT
Well i'm amazed how ANYONE could think taylor is a great price at odds-on Crazy MVG is not scared like 3/4 of the field ! Barney was beaten before going out and playing him last night and so were all the others  who have years of defeats against taylor
MVG has none of that and HEY in 6 months you will ALL say " HOW THE HELL WAS MVG ODDS AGAINST IN THE WORLD CHAMPS " The old man is going down once and for all
Report harry2.1 December 31, 2012 10:57 AM GMT
Same thing happened three years ago. Taylor finished. He has been poor by his own standards this tournament, though.

MVG nearly lost V an out of form Lewis

>>>Lewis played fantastic darts, what are you talking about?
Report newco-Joe67 December 31, 2012 12:33 PM GMT
If MVG had hit his doubles he would have blown Lewis away instead of letting him into match is all i am saying. Taylor will take any chance he is given. Have backed MVG any road as hoping he will rise to the occasion and hit his doubles and edge out to a 7-5 victory.

Phil Taylor's 20th world final dont think your 9/4 is realistic Blush
Report DartsnBooze December 31, 2012 1:14 PM GMT
As a betting proposition, personal feelings of angst against one player or the other should be discarded....As has already been said in above posts, Taylor will average in the high 90's etc....Cold or no cold, it's up to Mike to play his natural game in what is his first world champs final. 6 months ago mvg was 100/1 for the world matchplay...Taylor beat Wade in the final with a high 90's average. Mvg played barney in grand slam final and went off the 2/7 jolly and Lost! Taylor came back with a vengance in the players champs and like barney gor great confidence winning another major after the mauling by mvg in the grand slam. Taylor's cold v Mvg's bad feet? It's the final the bookies predicted and as Taylor  says "it's gonna be a cracker. Who wins? Double stats of 40%+ min required. Bring it on!
Report pollybournemouth December 31, 2012 1:16 PM GMT
Howdi i understand you saying that but thats what my mind says ! I'm really not joking or messing i think MVG will beat him with ease - Its the way things ofter happen the New kid on the block takes out the old and i thought lewis played well against MVG
Report Zazu December 31, 2012 1:43 PM GMT
is MVG playing better now than compared to GSOD where Barney took him to church in the final? Confused

Id love MVG too win but he drops sets like crazy and is only averaging 100ish himself.
Report Howdi December 31, 2012 1:57 PM GMT
Polly dont become an odds complier. MVG may win but he is not 4/9 stats will tell you that.
Report Navel-Gazer December 31, 2012 2:00 PM GMT
4/9 for most 180's or a higher average after 9 darts (fro MVG) would be an absolute gift!

Alas...not for the match Polly.

What price a 9 darter in final ?
Report pollybournemouth December 31, 2012 3:48 PM GMT
haha Why is it against the law to make odds up on what you think a match or anything  else come to that should be Cool ,.I have 25 -1 with sportingbet on MVG and i'm not even laying some off on MVB  so if you dont like 4/9 then how about NO CHANCE TAYLOR

I would just add Taylor looks very ill to me and i dont mean a cold ! Look at his eyes ., He looks sick and has done for a bit
Report DartsnBooze December 31, 2012 7:16 PM GMT
Taylor looks sick/ill/unwell...etc... yet still hits high 90's averages Min! Shows how lame some of these top 32 players are.
When Taylor retires the averages will drop throughout the pdc.
Report pollybournemouth December 31, 2012 9:48 PM GMT
I dont think thats true because when MVG wins the World and plays in the premier league a new breed of player will start coming in2 darts ! How many people wanna watch bores like wade etc
Report DartsnBooze January 1, 2013 2:50 AM GMT
Look at the premier league tables from the inception and you'll see one player clearly head and shoulders above everyone else while the remainder churn out mid 90's guff. Where's the new breed then? All i see is year on year players from the bdo moving to the pdc while the moronic darts tv voyours absolutely rip into the remaining bdo lads. Plenty of talent in the pdc youth system but even the likes of monk and hubbard have hardly set the world on fire.

Taylor is a winner of the highest order, he can turn it on at anytime. Sure he has reached his peak and an in form MVG can only be stopped by an in form  Taylor.

It could go both ways. Experience of Taylor will balance out the fire power of MVG. It will all be about those turning points. A big checkout against the throw when it matters. It really could go either way.

DartsandBooze   If i didnt make it clear !! When MVG becomes world champion Darts will take off again in Holland ! Also a new breed of player will start playing DARTS in the UK ,. It will take a few years for this to work thro
Report inrunninggg January 2, 2013 7:50 AM GMT
it will take a few more years now Polly as your 4/9 shot came up short against the POWER! Hope you layed off some of that 25/1 when MVG was 2-0 and 4-2 up. silly letting your heart rule your prices...let the head rule them.   Power was relentless, just kept playing his game even when MVG was making big scores and big checkouts...well done power..  2.06 on betfair in the final was Taylor, will go down as one of the best prices ever in a 2 horse race. (:
Report harry2.1 January 2, 2013 7:59 AM GMT
It went to at least 2.12/2.14  Taylor after money for MvG, then a lot of very late money for The Power near the off to about 2.02. I wonder how they have priced up next years event !!!!!!!!!!
Report Zazu January 2, 2013 10:11 AM GMT
Dont think there were any big shocks in this years tournament so next years prices will be very similar.

Taylor 2/1
MVG 3/1
10/1 bar

Only 4 potential winners for me. Lewis, Taylor, MVG, Anderson
Report comefrombehind January 2, 2013 12:04 PM GMT
not sure anderson will ever hit enough doubles to win title

I for one do hope Polly ( who backed MVG @ 25/1, allegedly,) laid off a chunk of it in running for a tidy profit instead of allowing a personal bitterness of The Power to fester away at her resulting in a double kicking.

I really do hope that ANYONE who was on the outrights at tasty prices traded out at around very skinny I/R odds...they deserve it for the foresight - I certainly didn't see the value even at 100/1 AT THE TIME.
