I'm a big fan of Winstanley and the best thing about this result is that it'll help him have a less horrendous passage in the early rounds for future tournaments.

Gary however...is RAPIDLY sinking down my list of favourite players - he used to be my favourite player but I just can't defend him any more Sad
The man is a hoax and needs some serious therapy!
There's ALWAYS an excuse with him Sad

As I said earlier...he's a gold-mine for me, as you set your lays before the game starts decrementing from 1.1 to 1.01 - that way, you never lose THAT much.
When are some of you gonna learn?

That said...nobody on this forum would be more pleased if he became world champion, and as we all know, the raw ability is there.

That was a great result for me as I laid him in the outright winner market but still had a sneaky saver on him as well when his price bounced out.

PS - that was my tenner waiting on Dean at 1000 when it was 4-0 and like a coward I cancelled it when Gary went 5-0 up! Cry
Someone with bigger balls than me did actually get the 1000 so good luck to you squire Wink

PPS - I must add that I'm the ballbag (in another guise) that SERIOUSLY opposed 'Win Only SP Only' when he advised Anderson was an absolute certainty for the 180's market in the Premier League and I was all over Lewis at 7/1 Grin

PPPS - sorry to rub it in WOSO, but that was limp advice Devil

Latalomne's post about Baxter's smile applies to Gary as well.

Gary just seem's too happy about losing a game in which he was 5-0 up. You shouldn't be smiling after that, you should be incensed with yourself.

You get the feeling he's not too bothered about titles, just as long as he gets a few quid in his sky.

Think players smiling and joking around after a loss happens far less now than say 10 years ago.

Players generally sporting in defeat but think with money involved and strength in depth means these losses hurt more

Thought you'd like that tale lads.

Can I also recommend a book to you if you enjoy stories of hustlers and proposition gamblers. 'Titanic Thompson - The Man Who Bet on Everything' by Kevin Cook. A fab tale from the crazy days of the first half on the American 20th century.  Now there was a character.

Available from all good bookshops and plenty of bad ones too I guess.

Guy I knew many years ago was a top pool player (played for England at one point)

He was playing one of his more ordinary playing friends for cash and was unable to get a bet on so he gave the guy the proposition "You have two shots, I'll have one"

His mate refused this.

So he offered three shots to one, and still got refused.

So he came up with "Tell you what. You have as many shots as you want".

Mate scratched his head and took the bet. Potted a load of balls and inevitably snookered himself and fouled, so my friend cleared up and took the money!

Report lambiespigeonshed July 25, 2012 5:31 PM BST
HAHAHA. Winstanley was the bet of the round. Anderson is a ****ing bottle merchant. He should **** off back to the BDO and play pub darts again with his loser mates. Infact, nah, he should stay, the bookies always have him as odds on favourite and he obliges and loses. Laugh

Chisnall is another bottle job, although unlike Anderson hes young and seems to have  the desire to win, he'll get it right in time.

Anderson. Laugh
