I'd lay that 1/2 for England! Even 4/5 is abominable as I'd have Lewis favourite.
It's a ridiculous price considering Adie can strike the same vein of form on the maximums like Anderson, and has developed into a more consistent player too, with far fewer quirks!
Anderson may still be the best lipstick smasher the game has EVER seen, but there's plenty of mental baggage there too, and he seems like a time bomb to me!
I thought the 5/6 for Anderson for more 180's against Whitlock (World Champs QF) was as good an odds-on bet as it gets! He somehow managed to ransack the value in it with his dodgy temperament
He most certainly deserves a Timeform squiggle, even though I'd love to see him crowned a world champion ASAP!

thats a nailed on bet its just i hate having to wait weeks to pick up the winnings. he mightnt do it every night but over all the weeks he wont be beaten on the maxes. hes 5/2 most maxes tonight and if you could get that each week you'd be well in profit by the end of the league format. as far as i remember last year he started the first week 5/2 and was 5/4 or less for the same bet come the last few weeks. none of the 2 new additions will trouble him 90% of the weeks and lewis can hit them sometimes but other days hel only get a couple. andersons 180s/legs ratio is much higher than anyone else and im hoping he comes out the gate fast on the maxes tonight and that 5/2 won't be seen again til next year.

Adie Lewis at 7/1 with Chandler is an exceptional price...Anderson should be re-named 'The LYING Scotsman' because he ALWAYS fails to produce the goods!

JJU - that's a fair appraisal but 1/2 and 7/1 seems hugely disparate to me.
E/W if possible is a bet to nothing on Lewis, who realistically, is the only rival to Anderson on the maxes. He can hit most other players' quota in a ten minute patch, and invariably, they come from absolutely nowhere!

CLA - he's regressing and I'm sick of defending him! I've said before that he'd be a worthy world champion, and I'd love to see him do it, but he is just not reliable nowadays.
PS - are there any stats out there for last year's maxes in the PL and other tournaments? I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see him way ahead though that still wouldn't justify a 1/2 quote.

I'd have Ando in for about 12 more 180s than anyone else during the league stages. He's about 0.37/leg. Lewis 0.30, Whitlock only a smidge behind Lewis.

It seems after tonight's games that I'm not as much of a mug as YOU think!
1/2 Anderson with ALL his quirks, against 7/1 Lewis, who's just getting better by the tournament!
Utter stupidity in comparison, and I stand by that! It's all about value mate
Even in my wildest hallucinations, I couldn't have seen Anderson in that position (Lewis with three darts at tops, crowd on his back, and missed the first two) securing a guaranteed point!
That's where Gary won't ever change his spots...he's too long in the tooth with lots of wretched form for such collapses.
It's no coincidence in last year's World Champ's that Lewis saved his best game until the final, and Anderson played his worst!
I really like the Jock but 'res ipsa loquitur'...the facts speak for themselves

im having to agree with ya on this one Hugo. his dependability has totally gone the last few months and id have severe reservations backing him again until I see a dramatic turnaround in form.

He will have 2 more games than Anderson as Anderson hasnt a hope in hell of getting anywhere near the top 4. (6th place finish this year)

Above was posted BEFORE a dart was thrown on night one - am I still THAT wide of the mark guys?
The 180 totals after night 2 are grim reading for the MANIACS who backed Anderson as low as 1/2, as he's now out to 9/4
I hate to tell you guys I told you so, but I told you so and I was adamant!
Anderson was utter balls in his victory over Hamilton, and he's gonna have to find some form from nowhere really soon, if that gap of six to Lewis isn't extended this Thursday.
Number of 180's after 2 weeks and latest best price:
Hamilton 10 14/1 Taylor 10 5/1 Lewis 9 5/2 Barney 9 14/1 Whitlock 7 4/1 Wade 6 50/1 Painter 3 80/1 Anderson 3 9/4

PS - I see Anderson's up against Wade this week and for me, he has it all to do to snatch a draw!
Wade has been far better than The Jock in the two previous weeks despite being without a point, and will be 2/1 to win.
Wade's two averages in defeat have been 91.2 (56% on doubles) & 96.1 (18%) Anderson has struggled with 80.8 (21%) & 85 (47%)
It's clear that Anderson hasn't played well for some time, and until he shows some form, he's definitely one to avoid.

Good to see no real back biting over some comments that could have made things ugly. It goes to show Hugh has a good temperament by not slinging his toys out after some low flying digs at him
I'd put it down to his 2am drinking habit plus not giving a fig either way haha.
Roll on week 3 and more ridicule (for some)
Looking at Hugh's 180's stats & prices i'd stick a few coins on Barney most 180's (9 so far) @ 14/1
FTR, Barney was/is the only player i feared if/when lumping on Taylor to win a tourney. When Barney's on song he's a joy to watch.
He was 20/1 to win premier league from the outset...A massive swerve for me at the time...It's a funny old game Greavsie

D&B - Barney's resurgence has been nice to see, though I fear his Nemesis (and everyone else's) Taylor is in smashing form right now, and I can't see anything but a beating for RVB tomorrow.
THEN...we'll see the week after how he responds to the trauma of another Taylor mauling, so I'm not so sure about your 180 advice.
It doesn't take much to knock him off his stride nowadays, even when he has those smooth patches, and a typical Taylor finish off something like 137 early on, will visibly hurt Barney...then he'll crumble!
I wonder if there's E/W betting on this market, because at 50/1, James Wade (who's yet to really find top form) is only a few behind, although he doesn't seem to hit them like he used to.

I'm thinking of weighing in 3 figures on Gary now he is back in the groove. Was going to back him from outset but thought odds were a little skinny.Should be a fast free flowing 180 fest on Thurs with him playing Lewis. If he knocks in another 5 the 3/1 wont be around for long. Might have a side order of Hammer available at 10's

Surprised Anderson now as big as 3/1 - Plenty of time to get on terms and playing well again so semi finals look a gimme at least. Should be clear favourite imo

Calm Down La - you seem to have gone AWOL mate Lewis now best priced 2/1 and Gary out to 7/2! 7/1 & 1/2 at the start, so I'd say I was on the ball with the DISPARITY, which is the point I was trying to make.
I remember Anderson smashing in about 15 against Whitlock last year, and there's a chance that could happen again as he's gradually hitting his stride - I have a sneaky feeling you'll reappear then
There's really only Lewis capable of the same devastating max-hitting, and I still have a suspicion he'll hit 10 one night, and that cushion of six he has on Anderson could become a chasm!
I've noticed recently that Adie's been hitting the first two trebles, and it's looked odds-on that the next would follow - it hasn't been happening for him, but it WILL come!

It's so ironic now, that the corresponding kick-off prices for Anderson & Lewis have been turned upside down
If there'd have been a Betfair book on this (which there should have been, so get complaining guys) NOW as he's odds-on is the time to lay Lewis!

Anderson is so erratic. When his opponents are high prices I always bet them unless its an absolute chump of a player, total bottle merchant. Wasn't he involved a match fixing scandal with his buddy Darryl Fitton a few years ago too?

There was something a bit different with Fitton in the grand slam. Fitton needed a convincing win to progress. If I remember correctly, Fitton couldn't hit a double for his life so Anderson was almost compelled to take one out so won a leg more than he wanted to.

It wasn't so much a match fix in terms of betting, more of a job for the boys - bdo boys at that who lets face it are mates looking out for each other. It's something i wouldn't have done if i was playing.

Remember Lewis has played one extra game and misses out next week, whereas Anderson plays twice in one night.
There still isn't a market on this event anywhere, though I'd assume Lewis would be at best 4/9, and that's only because he isn't guaranteed to make the play-offs.
If any odds for the 'frame' were available (three places in an 8 runner field) Anderson would have been around 1/14 I suspect, and that would have been a monster lay with as much as I could have got my greasy paws on!
Maybe next year Betfair could get their act together and provide some entertainment for us, with some interesting markets - we should complain

gibberish id be surprised if this market includes the play offs. ive also had a bet on this market and should know but i perhaps wrongly assumed it was regulr season only. previous max markets in the pl have only been reg season.
as for the bloke slating win only thats poor show hes a solid darts punter who knows his stuff and puts his dosh down. recent events in anderson's personal life may shed some light on his poor showing so far.
unfortunately for win only rod harrington said anderson to get most 180s was a cert which kind of sealed his fate.

Gretna - that's something I'm not sure about as I didn't monitor last year's market.
I'm not putting the boot in on WOSO, as he may well know his darts, but 'once bitten, twice shy' should by now ring alarm bells when it comes to punting on Anderson - even relative newcomers to the sport must realise this.
Anderson recently admitted that the last ten months has been the worst period of his entire career, though to be fair to him, there have been several flashes of brilliance.
His personal troubles have been well documented, and so I stand by what I said before a dart was thrown in this tournament, in that he was an insane price.
It's all about opinions, and we all get it spectacularly wrong sometimes. For a rare change, I figure I got it spot on and the 7/1 for Lewis really was exceptional value.

all win only said was its time to pack up if you had lewis fav -hardly mud slinging! i agree with him lewis shouldnt have been fav and whilst 1/2 was a poor price 4/5 was attractive if based on pure numbers (but we know there are other factors to figure in- which would equally go against lewis).
win only does tend to come across as very bullish with his picks as if defeat is impossible.
well done if lewis takes it - he should now. im on barney at 33/1 so wont give it up just yet- lol

Oh dear Gary anderson - 1 x 180 in 25 legs !!! It's almost unbelievable. I never saw the odds for the player to hit most 180's for last night but when Lewis played 2 games on the same night he was 1/25 !

D&B - 1/25! As big a fan as I am of Lewis, they can ALL have just one bad night (or one whopping night - remember Anderson's 15 from last year?) and that would have been a MEGA lay for me!
As it panned out, he hit a paltry 5 in his two matches, so the idiotic backers (if anyone was dub enough to take that) got out of jail!
Lewis isn't exactly home yet as there's still some uncertainty as to whether only the first 14 matches count. Besides...10 in a match isn't unheard of and that would really close the gap on Adie.
Gretna - whatever way you try to dress it up, all things considered, it was an appalling piece of betting advice from WOSO who totally ignored recent form and other peripheral issues with Anderson.
Bottom of the league, and only half as many as Adie Lewis - that would have been 1000 on here!
It's a shame for the sport to see Anderson performing so poorly, though he's got a couple of months to get his act together before the big tournaments get under way.

Adie's looking like Crisp in the 1973 Grand National, having done his best to squander what looked an unassailable lead.
The 10 length gap is now down to just four, and after looking very comfortable a few weeks ago, they're just not going in lately.

Unnecessary comment Eldrick, especially from someone who clearly considers themselves such a pro.
Regardless of what has happened, there was nothing whatsoever wrong with taking 4-5. No, I wasn't on - wouldn't have been able to get on.
But over 14 weeks he was a huge favourite to come out on top (don't know how it would translate odds wise with 8 runners but certainly shorter than 4-5).
I won't bore you with the stats - suffice to say, prior to this season's PL, even when he has struggled in terms of results he has always nailed the maximums at a higher rate than anyone else.
But Hugh nailed it by flagging up what was exceptional value on Lewis.

Silverback - I have a hunch that Hugh & Gibberish may well be the same irritating entity
Anyone who watches darts regularly, must KNOW that the likes of Anderson & Barney are ALWAYS worth opposing at short odds, though they have the class to beat ANYONE, and are well worth following when you can sniff a bit of value.
If anyone cares to check on the highest averages (which obviously includes all the missed doubles) then there's only Barney that seems capable of challenging Taylor's undoubted supremacy.
As good as Lewis is...he never seems to be able to hack BOTH aspects of the game (YET) in scoring and finishing consistently in the same match - that's what keeps Taylor above them all, even though there's only Lewis who seems to have the belief before, during & after that he can nail The Power!
It should be remembered that Lewis is a different animal since Deller's intervention, and he is only going to get even better!
D&B doesn't seem to rate the bloke as much as I do and doesn't have him in his top 10 of all time, whereas I think he's already challenging for the number two spot!
The rest (quality players like Anderson, Wade, Barney & Whitlock) are like rabbits in the headlights against Taylor and are visibly intimidated, whereas Lewis has the belief he is the heir apparent.

Gibberish, the ones on here who placed a bet on the market from the outset will surely know if it's league only or finals night as they'd have been paid out if by now if it's league only? I did say Lewis wasn't a shoe in during the weeks a market was still available as me may not even qualify. This as we now know was the case.
