This is a race I've been really looking forward to. It's generally pretty exciting anyway but this year its basically the first chance we've had to see two of the most promising young sprinters in the peloton in Caleb Ewan and Fernando Gaviria go head to head. I'm not sure today's stage 2 will end in a sprint as the finish looks pretty hard, and I think they'll probably be looking more towards stages 3 and 6, with stage 4 as a possible. In terms of the GC I think Nibali is a worthy favourite. It's also interesting that FDJ did a decent TTT yesterday, coming third. This was a discipline they've always struggled at but now it seems like they have made vast improvement and this gives Thibault Pinot a decent platform for the week. For today's stage 2 I feel this suits the punchier riders. Zdenek Stybar was my first thought when looking a the profile at 25/1. Then I couldn't leave Cancellara out at 12/1 and finally I backed Woet Poels at 25/1 in case they really hammer it on the sharp climbs.

Brilliant, MC! Your quality tipping continues. That's two 25/1 pops in-a-row after your Demare pick in Paris-Nice, earlier.

I have put a fair amount of work into this race, but prices have been late, and I won't be picking up any GC positions until stage 4.

…But where is the colour for this thread? Just joking mate, I understand your busy.

How's about that then? What a sprint by Gaviria...

Not even bothering with this race, it is clear that the cancellation of Sunday’s stage to Monte San Vicino has disrupted the natural order of things, and essentially presented the versatile classics riders the opportunity to go for GC honours.
