Didnt beat Dowsetts 10 mile british record last month but that was down to a strong westerly breeze.
Weather conditions play a far less part altho can have a variance of around 1KM for same power output depending on wether high or low pressure.
Hes talking of making 55.25KM @16.2 second laps which will blast it out the water.

If he's talking about 55 he's probably confident of being higher than that.

Any book carrying odds on it? I know it's likely to be short but barring a mechanical I can't see him not achieving it.

Better than I expected. I was thinking it was a great bet at 1/10.

I'd lay it at 1.20 if I'm being honest.

I'm not sitting at 1.20 at all.

My biggest ever bet.
An absolute certainty imo.
In Wiggo I trust

What could possibly go wrong?

High pressure in London. 53-53.99km at 8/1 with Paddy Power looks tempting.

I got a chunk matched at 1.2 last night so I presume some book brought it live at unbelievable odds.

Rumours are that he's done a 54.9 in training. I think it's only a mechanical that will scupper this.

Interesting to note that the discussion in the media is not about whether he will record a new best distance, but rather whether his performance will be so emphatic that it discourages other riders to make attempts until the next generation as recent interest has grown in the event. I mean, Wiggins was overtaking cars in the City RC Hull Open 10 Mile TT. No bets for me. Good luck geoff m.

Cheers SP fingers crossed had far more on than i should bet hey ho.
Went to Hull to watch his 10 mile record attempt which was delayed by an hour so got the bike out and went a ride knew he wouldnt have a prayer (aftertiming @ its best) as a very strong westerly wind which scuppered his chance . Did remarkably well to get so close under those conditions.
Yep im definetly in the how far camp as opposed to will he wont he.

Why doesn't boardmans 56km count?

all records of Moser, Obree and Boardman were denied by UCI for using special bikes, records should be comparable with Merckx 1972 record. 2014 bikes were allowed again which fulfill regulations of road ITT bikes.

I've seen that, but after a quick Google his bike doesn't look much different to the one used today.

It's the position that the bike let him take advantage of. Think Wiggins could have taken the Boardman superman position close if conditions were ideal on a better track.
