Grand Tours - (Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta d'Espana)

1) Outright winner markets up early.
2) Markets for all other jerseys on both exchange and sportsbook. The latest these should go up is when the final team lineups are known. Sprinters jersey would ideally go up earlier.
3) Stage winner markets for the following day's stage up on both exchange and sportsbook daily, before midnight. Preferably before 8pm.
4) Stage winner markets properly ordered in order of favouritism, not in alphabetical order.

Other top stage races - (Tour Down Under, Tour of Romandie, Paris-Nice, Dauphine, Tour de Suisse, Tirreno Adriatico and Tour of Britain)

1) Outright winner market up on both exchange and sportsbook at least a week in advance.
2) Stage winner markets up by midnight on both exchange and sportsbook

Classics and Top One Day Races - (Milan-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold, La Fleche Wallone, E3 Harelbeke, Gent-Wevelgem, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Clasica San-Sebastien, Il Lombardia)

1) Winner & podium markets up at least a week in advance (or even antepost in the case of Milan-San Remo) on both exchange and sportsbook.

Other Stage Races - (Vuelta El Pais Vasco, Vuelta Catalunya, Giro Del Trentino, Tour de Poland, Eneco Tour)

1) We expect to have an outright market and stage winner markets for these races

Other Races - (World Championship Road Race, World Championship TT, Olympic Road Race, Olympic TT)

1) Markets should be up well in advance of these races.

------------
This list or races is by no means exhaustive, but if you want to be taken seriously and oncrease the turnover in your cycling betting this is the least you should be offering. You may say that turnover on cycling means it is not a priority, but unless you improve you won't ever increase your turnover.

Often your exchange markets are up fairly quickly, but betting on cycling requires an each-way option for many punters (you're betting on the winner from a field of upto 250) so improving the offering from the sportsbook by getting markets up quicker and having more markets WILL increase your cycling turnover.

You might want to consider trying to make a reputation as the place to go by offering competitive each way terms. There is one (Irish) bookmaker that often offer 4 or even 5 places and they often take a huge chunk of the betting revenue when they do.

Lastly, we shouldn't have to continually remind you to get markets up. Especially in high profile races like the Vuelta, the Giro and the Tour of Britain etc. These are all televised live. Cycling is the fastest-growing sport in the country. Listen to your customers and up your game. Thanks.

Unfortunately due to ill health i have been away for a while and have returned to find this forum seems to have dwindled dramatically.

We asked Betfair for a forum for a long time and they finally obliged but the posts seem few and far between.

As for betting on the cycling, the book is so over round it must be in the bookies favour but still we have to go elsewhere because Betfair is so slow and reactive rather than proactive. PP has several markets already on Eddie Dunbar who Betfair have probably never heard of!!

This is such a fast growing sport on the womens side as well which i love as it is so attacking.

Lets hope we can rejuvenate this market and forum. We still have Lombardia to come !!

Nothing on the National Track Champs from anyone (not just Betfair) - this is very poor given we're the World's leading cycling nation.

Good post. Consistency in market provision is key.

While Betfair continue to treat cycling as a poor relation they will continue to see poor returns and so the cycle continues. They did offer stage markets for one of this season's stage races (Dubai maybe?) but the stages markets were not open before midnight GMT and the stages were starting before breakfast. Is it any wonder that hardly anything was matched???

Pathetic fare again from Betfair, while other bookmakers see turnover from cycling betting growing at a faster rate than any other sport.

No markets for Paris-Nice yet Betfair, less than 24 hours before the race starts. This is not good enough

Put the right people in the right races. Today you put Jens Wallays into Dwars Door Vlanderen instead of Jelle Wallays. Jelle Wallays wins and you settle Jens Wallays as a loser.

We (I) moan often enough when they get it wrong, so fair play to Betfair. We have an in play sportsbook market (with each way) on this stage as well as the exchange market Shocked Grin.

Don't stop there though, how about 4 or even 5 places for each way bets on some of the trickier stages?

Oh Betfair....you'd been doing so well. In-play markets on the sports book for the whole Giro, markets up nice and promptly, no balls ups for most of the Grand Tour with incorrect riders.

And now you forget to get your Dauphine markets up on the sports book.

Come on, it's the biggest stage race in the calendar outside the 3 Grand Tours and it starts today!

Get your finger out!

My Gilbert bet (Stage 4) was incorrectly settled as a loser instead of a non-runner. I had to chase them for my stake back and then they tried to give me free bets instead of returning the stake.

Mike C: Hello welcome to Betfair you are chatting with Mike C. How can I help?
marychain: A bet I placed has been incorrectly settled as a loser. It was a non-runner.
marychain: Betfair Bet ID O/0046119/0002686 | Placed: 16-Jun-15 08:50:57
Mike C: Let me take a look , one second please
Mike C: When was the bet placed ?
marychain: as above
marychain: Gilbert withdrew from the Tour de Suisse before the start of Stage 4

marychain: "Gilbert has been racing at the Tour de Suisse but withdrew before the start of Tuesday’s stage four after receiving the diagnosis."

Mike C: Ok , therefore the bet should be voided.
I will manually refund the stake, one second please
Mike C: Done
marychain: thanks Mike, very good help
Mike C: Vert Welcome
marychain: have a good one
Mike C: You too
marychain: should that returned stake be showing in my account now or will it take a few minutes?
Mike C: It has been returned as free bets Mary
Mike C: Already in your account
marychain: It shouldn't be free bets
marychain: it is a non-runner it should be returned as cash
Mike C: I can raise this issue to the Trading team if you like , but there is no re-assurance on what time it will take , it works in a queue system , therefore the money could take quite a while to be refunded
Free bets are instant , your choice
marychain: Raise it to the trading team please. Do IBAS know that Betfair are offering free bets instead of returned stake on non runners?!
Mike C: Sure thing , One second please
Mike C: Ok good , I have informed the trading team
Please understand that they will have dozens of accounts to look at, therefore it works in a queue system.
BUT I have informed them about your issue and told them it is of HIGH PRIORITY
marychain: ok

Suspending the stage 12 Vuelta market for over 30 minutes after the start of the stage is not only not fair, but it's strange since nothing can possibly take that long, but worse, makes it look like the market has been forgotten about!

FFS Betfair a few International matches in football and you lose the plot? No Vuelta markets at all on Sportsbook, despite the last stage finishing at 5pm UK time. So 5 hours later, no GC, no stage market for stage 13, no KOM, no points market... Plain

I thought Betfair had been improving with its cycling betting but the non-appearance of stage or outright markets for the Tour of Britain before the race started is completely embarrassing and unacceptable. Sort it out Betfair!

I don't understand why the Men's. Elite. Road Race. Winner Market. in the World Championships, hasn't been fully loaded by now -- it's currently 26 runners at 100% overround. It's weird, and makes working out the competitiveness of the market very difficult. When will it be fully loaded? Confused IR? Laugh
