At long last the axe has fallen. The only mystery is how on earth Key remains, we needed a complete reset.
McCullum undoubtedly turned the team around in the early days of his tenure, with Bazball being lauded by a fawning media.
All the time it was at least mainly working then the odd bad result was easily brushed aside.
The trouble is when it started to go wrong on a regular basis there was no Plan B, even worse there was no acceptance that a Plan B was even required.
Pride goes before a fall it is said, just a shame it took so long for the ECB to finally act.

Had to come, refreshing and exiting at the start but found out against the better teams and too stubborn or cavalier to do anything about it.
Never seemed to appreciate what County Cricket was about, or could not have cared less probably nearer the mark. Keeps his position in the limited overs teams which is a better fit for him. Some sanity at last. When does Rob Key go? |

As a Kent fan i would like to be defending Rob (a fine batsman) but he is part of the problem and needs to go i feel.
It was he who wanted McCullum in the first place. A completely new regime is required and hopefully Andy Flower will be persuaded to return. |
