Starts shortly in India.
First game England v New Zealand and same format as in 2019.
I think Pakistan might have gone under the radar here.
Very strong bowling attack, used to conditions and if batting goes well they must have a good chance . I am on at 8/1.
Aussies also always go well so backed them with a view to trade towards the end of the tourney and see how it goes.
India look a lay to me. Just walloped by the aussies, a number of injuries to key players and look an ageing team. I have layed them.
England are the puzzle. Could win it but defo got lucky last time. I have layed them.
New Zealand always fall short and maybe just not quiet good enough.
saffers serial bottlers and cant have them.
The rest could cause a few surprises along the way but cannot see a winner there.

new zealand really need cabbage patch pitches to even up the contests. on a true surface their lack of scoring power likely to be exposed

This was their first 400+ score SS , previous highest 357 but tbf they've only batted first on 4 occasions , chased 5 times.
Think you have to go with a leap of faith for an outright bet , India's bowlers or Australia's batters and at the prices i'd have to go the latter.
No disrespect to the other two but hope that's the final.

I think if is too difficult to call yes India should win and have it all bug if NZ get them early under lights anything can happen. I think SA have a harder hitting batting order than any of them . Again get Aus under lights and if is a different ball game.
Plenty to look forward to. My gamble on NZ failed and I am looking at a potential loss. They started so well but the loss of Matt Henry has weakened the intensity of their attack. Hoping NZ can bat first and put up a score so J can get better terms for my surrender

nz should not be 5/2 against india. anything can happen in a 1 day international. there have been some big surprises in this world cup so far.

India are a juggernaut in these conditions and clearly could be a demolition but you actually look at some of the matches they've played, as is inevitable in this format it's got quite tight at times...
Eng went 1/3 ish against them at start of Eng's inns...Aus must have gone close to evens when they took 3 early on against them ...NZ must have got around evens during the Indian chase in their game...

My main worry with India is theyre 100% record, it's better to have lost a couple as it takes any complacency of their game, a bit more battle hardened and focused

the expected pitch changed in the build up to the match at the direction of the BCCI for a well used wicket for a World Cup SF...not quite the done thing..
surely some impartiality from the tournament director or similar should have been preventing an occurrence like that...

I dont think its cheating its home advantage and setting it up as such
Its why winning it on foreign soil is harder to do in cricket and fair play to India theyve still had to get it done, theyve been excellent and the best side by a fair way

Fortunately didn't have any real impact on the game as the surface played ok through both inns..
I think personally utilising home advantage in home series whether white or red ball is perfectly acceptable, most teams do it to some extent...
not sure it should be happening at an ICC tournament where you are the host not the home team as such ...
but especially if that includes over riding the guidance agreements put in place for the tournament that stated the SF would be played on a fresh pitch, the square number having even been allocated in advance and then the BBCI who think (and sadly they are right) they can just do as they choose and over ride such things. It would have been a great shame if it had taken the gloss off what is an absolutely top class India side...

India and SA have been the best sides in the competition and Aus will have to put together a really good team performance where everybody contributes to get past this one. Zampa and Hazelwood have been excellent but Starc needs to up his bowling and economy rate and I can see SA really getting after him and getting off to a flyer.We can beat anybody on our day but this is going to be one tough game. What a side India are. Fully expect them to win the trophy.

Bloody hell. I have no nails left. SA will be ruing the missed catches. Starc stepped up to the plate & Hazelwood was magnificent. God knows what Marnus and Smith were playing at and you expect better from them. Still another final so well done lads.
Madness to bet pre-match on the final for me and any bet has any low lay in-play , it's all about the day and either of Maxi , Head or Marsh can make odds look ridiculous.
Although not really reflected by the odds that was as tense a couple of hours you could imagine , it's not all about clearing the rope.

Don't think any team particularly likes chasing in a win or bust game SS , runs on the board in a final are deemed a good advantage providing the score is at least par and there's no rain about.
not sure how much dew has been about in Ahmedabad...3 out of 4 chasing wins in the tourny...
judging by the SF stuff wouldn't be too keen on opposing India until the pitch report...

Aus have it all to do and we don't play spin well enough in these conditions. I just hope we have a go and try to attack against their pace.
This could be a great final. Dew will give Aus a chance but a real shame the wicket is a slow low one.

Keep an eye on the bowlers footmarks too. I might be a little worried if zi were Aus. It will spin but at least they can reverse a dry ball
Could sense that wicket but now Iyer has time to play himself in with Kohli. I’d say Aus desperately need that 3rd wicket now. Interesting to see how Zamoa goes after SA treated him so disdainfully but India are mainly Right handed. I would throw Jadeja in early if Zamoa gets on top

Iyer was a big kiss so soon but Rahul is also a power hitter and classic batter when required. Wickets are absolutely crucial as thus will be difficult to come in and score runs quickly.

These Indian batsmen are cool cucumbers but as Rohit said when you play for India you are always under pressure so a World Cup Final is no different

maybe the dew factor and the wicket is the key here
Agree Smith & Labuschagne could be the key here , chasing a 90% strike rate will suit them both and they can play cricket shot almost in test match mode , a good pp will give them license for just that.

I do not think this a good score even if it proves to be a winning score. India did not put Aus under pressure after Rohit was out and they had too many dot balls despite getting over 100 in singles.
Australia and Cummings Captaincy were quite brilliant starting with the fielding, research on where to deploy fielders and where and how to bowl to batsmen. The bowlers did their part.

The ball should swing under lights conventionally but Aus will be going hard from the off. I expect fireworks either way!
First 10 over run line at 53, think Aus will try and break the back early and look to get 60 plus unless wickets tumble. Think might be prudent though to out smith ir Marnus upto 3 and the other at 5 or 6 to anchor 1 end.

i said beginning of this tournament Smith shouldnt be anywhere near the 50 over side, hes been poor, at least labus is a fab fielder

just on 70 runs in over 20 overs after being on 80-1 was pitiful to be honest , i blame a lot on that selfish big match choker kohli.
was a pretty horrible surface in the later part of the first dig...sun goes down and a bit of jew has got a bit easier..

cannot believe it. Could not see us winning this one but we have been incredible. A near faultless performance. Commiserations to India they have been brilliant. We found a way somehow. Well done boys. The best ever Aussie win in my lifetime.

SS - Very very worried when Smith was out. I thought it was going to be much too difficult for us at that point.

I agree with that.even a flatter faster wicket.their bowlers have all the skill to exploit whatever is there and the batsmen are technically better.
They were far too cautious and should have continued the example set by Rohit. His dismissal was pivotal for me. I remember thinking I hope he does not get out here and he did.
Certainly glad Modhi’s propaganda plan failed but any glee at India’s shenanigans failing should be tempered because Australia and England under Giles Clark aided and abetted India attempt to assassinate Test Cricket.
Everyone should be on notice after this organisational World Cup shambles what is to come. Tickets only purchased with a “ Partner “ credit card company, flights only with a “ partner “ airline etc etc etc. cricket has been hijacked
