Yeah just seemed the market had this wrong. They do from time to time and normally I jump on it but I have been a little more focussed on the football as betting in cricket in Pakistan has inherent issues with pitches, gambling and match fixing!
Tbf I have been a little lucky with mg timing today and also small bets for me. Should really have jumped on the price it was 3.5 when I first considered it.

Superb morning from England (especially if you've nibbled England at 3s!).
Tad frustrating but I got a couple of tickles above and below evens so I shouldn't complain.

I tend to go with hunches and form and teams on my radar. Probably too wide a market.
Cricket is a smaller vista with a lot more information. Muscle memory, weather, wear and tear also comes into it. I also like the fact the market often gets it wrong and I can often tell when this happens
I just love watching cricket

Ts there is an Ishan Kushan spectacular on Sky 422
Kishan should have opened in the recent T20 instead of Rohit who is yesterday’s man imho and J am the biggest Fan of the Exceptionally Talented Rohit Sharma!
Ishan is 158 no off 106 and is only playing because Rohit is sick or injured!

Crazy batting! Commentators said it was a slow pitch!
264 is Rohit’s India record. Somebody has got 277, which, also looks under threat!
Back to tgd real World coulda, shoulda reduced red around the 1.3’s
Here we go 200 off 126!
That is 290 by himself off 21 overs!

Pakistan at one point just before lunch were odds on of close I think but certainly favourites in the betting if not odds on.
To see Rizwan and Babar go in the space of a few balls is well astonishing.
Big crowd building g up in the expectation of a Pakistan victory. 64-0 at lunch.
Crazy prices today!

Absolute madness England went back up to 1.46 prior to third wicket.
Glad you got some easy money too apt!
I tend not to trade on swings. Should have at 1.19 but my ego and arrogance leave me backing my initial judgement.
Timing is everything but not my style.

I have recently got the time and facilities to watch this test series, its a goodun but what really strikes me is the quality of the commentary and summarising when compared to the football coverage, insightful, pretty much not partisan and some nice anecdotes during any lull in play, its a real shame that this cant be enjoyed on terrestrial TV.
Comment re Stokes as a captain, I feared he would be a Bothamesqe disaster but he looks like the real deal, always thinking and no shortage of plan , I havent seen him when England have been under the cosh but the signs are good.

Unless I've missed something, seems loopy for Pakistan to bump their batter down from six to eight, purely to keep left-handers at the crease (and, I guess, nullify Leach).

He was holding the innings together. If he stayed Pakistan win. They still might but there are a couple of rabbits in the hutch. 65 odd to get. Doesn’t sound much and at the same time may be huge. Still tough tk call this. England did themselves no favours losing the last 5 for 19 yesterday

To be this close to winning two Tests in two weeks in Pakistan - having managed two previously in the entire history of the game - tells you everything you need to know about Ben Stokes as captain.
And this England team. They're over-flowing with self-belief & confidence - so powerful.

Incessant collapses, not to mention 30/3 every innings, have been replaced by frightening batting.
Aside from Sibley being jettisoned, it's almost the same seven, too. Remarkable.

Incredible but do not get carried away. We nearly blew this and had to fight incredibly hard to force a victory. They did not have their best fast bowlers.
Great win though regardless. Pakistan is a tough place to win

I don’t think we’ve ever such a bonkers approach that gets results in such a way
The football team needs a similar approach mentality wise
This team is nuts I don’t think we’ve ever such a bonkers approach that gets results in such a way The football team needs a similar approach mentality wise
Revolutionised. Regardless of results (variance happens), I think we can get carried away. We have a team of winners, now.

Quite extraordinary to keep winning even when things look difficult. To win a test in Pakistan in 3 days plus a session and a bit can't have happened often. Sobering to read that in another part of Pakistan, many people have been killed in an attack by the Taliban. Brave decision to even be playing there.

Also great to see so many new names making an impact. Brook is a revelation as is Abrar with 11 wickets in his first ever test. Only Jacks failed to take a wicket out of the England bowlers and in this game, Stokes didn't even bowl at all! The 3 England fast bowlers were quite outstanding again. The key to the team is of course the captain's strategy and also their ability to rotate the batting and bowling to suit the conditions.

I think England went close to or above 4. My highest back was 3.6 and it did not look good until just before lunch and even then Pakistan rallied.
Fair play tk both teams bug what a leader Stokes is tk get the best out if his players and to trust them in a way Football managers in general and Southgate in particular just don’t understand or allow. Tika take, two banks of 4, low blocks etc are making football dull and metronomic. What s breath of fresh air from Stokes, Baz and not forgetting Rob Key!
Also great that our game brings people together

An example of one of the Stokes/McCullum influences that is close to negligible but when summed...
Abandoning the slips here after six overs.
Not just keeping a couple, as rote, because it's the morning of a Test - and for no other reason.

There won't be an edge; if there is, it likely won't carry; why are they there? Because that is what you do.
We don't. That's consigned to history.
He puts the men where he believes most likely to receive the ball.
Sounds like nothing (especially as I write it), but I think it's everything.

Did not keep an eye on this a I had a shilling on India at 1.46 which for me is not a price I usually punt in but it went well from the moment J put my money down which was when Kuldeep and Ashwin were starting.
Tomorrow is going to be interesting Karachi. Slow spin. England need to get a decent lead or face defeat. Can the pitch die? Draw over 20 already!

Basit and Waqar seemed united that this pitch would get trickier to bat on, in contrast to 'Pindi.
We shall see.
A couple skidded a touch yesterday from Wood, too. (Which could be early dying or breaking up, I'm shooting in the dark )

Was going to back Pakistan around 1.86 breaking my rules of never backing Pakistan and never bet in Pakistan despite backing England last Test, which, I layed off.
Pakistan seem a very good price.

must be a case for Butler's return in this environment...was always crippled in approach by falling between two stools of playing his natural game or the perceived playing properly ...won't be a problem now..though may be best off sticking to white ball on physical demands I guess and his keeping wasn't always great but feels bizarre really that he's not keeper batsman in this style of side..

If he was keen, couldn't agree more on Buttler. I'm his biggest fan.
With white ball and history, I suspect that ship has probably sailed. I think he'd have been in as soon as Stokes took over, if he were going to join the party.

Crawley Duckett Pope Root Brook Stokes Bairstow (wk) Robinson Archer Leach Anderson
Wood for Leach?
Be a big help if JB opened as well as he does in T20 as Crawley might struggle and we could have a keeper. Duckett's county numbers mean I'd like to give him a summer.

First inkling was England at 3’s but the more the game moved on I was more convinced Pakistan should have won with England batting Last. Nearly backed Pakistan at 2.24 but had lingering doubts about them and the wicket.
I just do not know what to say about England…..30/3, 40/4 who are these imposters!
Mike Brearley was heralded as a great Captain but he had some of the best ever playing for him.
Stokes did not have a bunch of World Beaters or England GOATS
This should go down as the most amazing Captaincy certainly in my lifetime. Bitham’s Ashes was really about some amazing individuals who pulled together a series of “ miracles”. These players were mercurial.
What Stokes has done is almost inexplicable. The only caveat being the Pakistan fast bowlers who were missing like Shaheen Shah Afridi
Hats off to Stokes and his TEAM

if the summer was pretty spectacular this series has utterly ripped up the conventional rules about playing test cricket especially in pakistan where you generally get draws by the bucketload with flat tracks and short days

I think we need to see what happens with that. I think both India and Pakistan were shell shocked. Both have great attacks and I was disappointed with them.
I think they will get found out by hood bowlers and Australia in particular will be kicking their lips as would SA over a series but what Stokes has done in the immortal words of Paul Merson……. is give his young charges unbelievable belief.
I am not stating I want this attitude defeated but as an aficionado of Test Cricket I want Test Cricket to bite it in the ar*se.
That’s not to say I want to see this brand of cricket defeated but tempered although if they can keep doing it one must be delighted and applaud
Credit where due.

I wouldn't have believed you could have the success they have already achieved with their approach....regardless of any future failings they've already won numerous games that they had no right to and especially with the points system the approach is entirely justified from here on in almost regardless of failures until it reaches any catastrophic point...
having just seen SA's effort at playing old school test cricket (and even some of the Australians -noteable that Head the only run scorer of note has been playing his own bazball in the last 12-18 months and having a lot of success) I think it's also increasingly clear that many teams simply don't have the batsmen to succeed in challenging conditions these days so there is less to be lost by playing ultra aggressively.... and with the ball and in the field the increased belief of the bowlers and willingness to attack more has paid plenty of dividends to..

I think Whispering is wrong to hope the old style of test cricket bites back to give bazball or whatever you want to name it a kicking I myself have always loved test cricket as it was but it was being devoured by limited overs cricket and T20 .. the way England are playing is giving it a lifeline and it is hoped other countries take up the challenge ... all sports change and whilst it might not be the cricket that aficionados might believe in it is giving test cricket a major boost .. test cricket definitely required help and this is a major step as too many other test nations were losing interest in the proper version of the game Obviously the Aussies will test it to its limit in the Ashes because they have the bowlers to fight back but the Summer should be enthralling

think the 280 in 50 overs 1st innings of the last test was the best justification. days gone by they'd have poked around for half that number of runs in 50 overs
the approach just puts immense pressure on the opposition. the rate england score if you don't bowl them out in 2 sessions then probably 8 times out of 10 you'll be losing the game. 300-350 is gonna win a lot more than it loses

This is the crux of everything, on the batting side of things.
A frankly unbelievable stat from this series, given who prevailed...
Pakistan batted for more than 207 overs longer than England. Two hundred and seven overs more than us! And they lost 3-0.

Even the chase in the fourth here by England - I can't remember but it was either the fourth or fifth highest chase ever by England anywhere in the sub-continent!
It was the breeziest breeze but head out with fear and survival on mind, on a turning deck, versus a mystery spinner who's just taken 11 wickets on debut, and we're skittled way short, after hours of prodding and poking. This has happened too many times to recall throughout my life.
All hail this mindset, there aren't the words to praise it enough. Remarkable.

It was not just the runs scored, but the number of players that contributed with both bat and ball. Don't forget they were all in sick beds 2 days before the first test, several had played in the 20/20 final (as had Pakistan to be fair) but the new names kept delivering. Brook was the star in the batting department, Leach together with the other slow bowlers did well as of course did Anderson. Stokes is content not to even bowl very often so he can concentrate on captaincy. Who would have thought we could achieve that much without him bowling? Jacks didn't really make any impact and Crawley is still disappointing as an opening batsman but there are plenty more young guns waiting for the chance.
