That is simply a nonsensical decision, David Gower has been the best presenter/commentator for many years.

I'm slightly sad about it but there's a lot of luck in life and Gower's had more than his share.

A female presenter is ok, a female commentator is not.
They know fcuk all about the game and add nothing.
I'm not sure any viewers want to listen to a U15's standard cricketer dissecting the skills/technique, shot selection of men at the peak of their sport.

Do you really think the majority of the audience care about a player's technique? Sky know exactly who their audience is. And with them happily moving on to 100 ball tourney after T20s proves where the money is. In the shorter format, there is no point talking about a player's technique. They would rather have people in the comm box that would make it sound exciting. And I can't imagine Gower being all that good commentating on a T20.

Still a ridiculous decision but just the way things will be in the near future.

The thing that Isa Guha has, and Gower doesn't have, makes a lot of difference.

If you've had 20 years I don't think you can complain.  A job on tv shouldn't be a job for life, Gower looks about 10 years older than 62.

I like him for Tests but DT may have a point re. the shorter formats.

T20 has been around 16 years and he has never presented or commentated on it.
He should remain Test match presenter for as long as he wants as he has reached institution status like Richie Benaud

Natalie Germanos is an excellent commentator as is Izzy Westbury.

I meant like that over-enthusiastic Aussie guy on the ODIs and T20s. I don't mind the more sedate women.
They generally summarise rather than commentate so at least we don't get too much of the "what field I would have set if I were captain" kind of thing from those lacking the experience t put forward such views.

The trouble is it's only PC bollox from our male perspective, which for a sport with an overwhelmingly male audience you'd think should be fair enough, but the media think they can get women to watch too, so they are not going to be happy with "sexist" comments any more than a male audience would be happy for Sue Barker to say "Phwoaar - nice glutes" about Rafa Nadal.

At least we've finally gotten rid of that camp old tw@t Blowers - I'd take any female commentator over his affected drivel.

Isa well in demand..on TMS for this test instead of Sky. Had to listen to radio yesterday instead of TV..I think there may have been 3 different female commentators..couldn't quite tell as they all sound the same with their generic comments

That is a great idea. I wanted to watch Sky and listen to Five Live but the delay was killing it. Never considered doing that Wondersobright. Many Thanks in advance for the next two tests.

I'm surprised i seem to be the only one that has found Gower's arrogant posh boy 'humour' boring for a number of years - he is a terrible interviewer as it's obvious he barely listens to anyone's answers (ready to butt in and 'umm and arrrr' at the wrong place) and everything was all so much better in his day. He's a decent comm from time to time but nowt special and Botham has obviously been bored doing this for a number of years. Not a huge fan of the new lot but then again i generally have the sound off and music on for most sports!

Maybe they were listening to Robbie Savage on the way in to the meeting & could see that the sports bar couldn't have got much lower

Thank God the real world has moved on even if the decrepit, repugnant views of those on this forum have not.

Have you guys ever considered watching without commentary? Test cricket in england, with the comm turned off, is very soothing. The sounds of the crowd and bat and ball, feet against the dirt etc make for a very good viewing experience.

Can you do that on Sky? I already mute when Guha is commentating.

Also provided an update on other sporting events, already carving out a new life as the sports correspondent within the confines of the BBC.
