Was just a light hearted post DT ....nevertheless Lanka were 700ish about 40 mins before they won
By:
Yes I remember.
Draw was in 40s as well(or 20s) |
By:
4 day test should be interesting and good trading, as long as Ireland dont fold first up.
By:
I wonder if the follow on is at 200 or 150
By:
Draw now overpriced for me at 12s im having a bit.
By:
This probably wont happen but if England bat first, if they bat 4-5 sessions the price of the draw is 4.0 ish?
By:
Anderson out.
By:
follow on will be 150. it's a 4 day match. same as if day 1 of a 5 day test is completely washed out
By:
is it a guess or you are sure?

14.1 Lead on first innings
14.1.1 In a two-innings match of 5 days or more, the side which bats first and leads by at least 200 runs shall have the option of requiring the other side to follow their innings. 14.1.2 The same option shall be available in two-innings matches of shorter duration with the minimum leads as follows: - 150 runs in a match of 3 or 4 days; - 100 runs in a 2-day match; - 75 runs in a 1-day match. |

By:
thanks. I always thought it was a rule to make up for rain but apparently applies to all 4 day games.
By:
i can see the draw going much shorter at some point in the game. if eng bat first it could easily come down to ireland just needing to bat 3 sessions on the last day. and that won't be 12 odds.
also rain on Saturday. |

and friday evening
By:
a pony at 11.5!
Can't let that go. 4 day game. Of course the follow on is only 150 but if they follow on and it was 200 they would still lose the game. The plan is for England to bat until just after tea on Thursday and hope it is a pukka batting strip, not too dry underneath. Alternatively Ireland bat first and score 400 on a good strip. There is an outside chance of rain too more likely on Saturday than Friday His absence opens the way for Somerset's Lewis Gregory to make his England debut, with Warwickshire's Olly Stone also in line for a first Test call-up, as part of a four-prong pace attack also featuring Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes. They are already set to start the series without Jofra Archer and Mark Wood |
By:
no butler no stokes.
By:
That 4 man pace attack could look impotent on a good Lords strip.
No idea of course if Ireland can bat? Anyone know anything about them? |
By:
seems like both moeen and leach both plaing and stone not gregory. guess they must be seriously considering leach as sole spinner for next week given moeen's dodgy form
By:
England should win comfortably with people looking to stake a claim but we are looking for something unusual
By:
They could play both against Aussie. Moen needs someone to keep things tight. Maybe Leach will do that better than Rashid. Spinning it both ways off the wicket is a huge plus for any bowling attack
By:
would say ireland were stronger 5 years ago. still relying on most of same players who are now past their peak
next week roy, burns, denly, root, bairstow, stokes, buttler then pick the bowlers out of a hat at this stage. 4 from moeen, woakes, curran, broad, leach and maybe anderson and archer fitness doubts |
By:
True
I am hoping for the Lords Factor and National Pride to play a part too. I do think a small punt on the draw is worth a throw. |
By:
98 overs per day for 4 day tests. could be some late finishes
By:
Yet another thing I didn't know lol.
By:
Tired bowlers!
By:
sun is out the first two days. Should be a run fest.
By:
I think England should steam roller them but I am a sucker for a long shot!
By:
Another factor for England layers is whther they will want to use this as practice.
i.e. doubt very much they would want to only bat once. I think Ireland are very poor but laying 1.13s makes some sense. |

Chances of rain receding on Met office even from this morning's forecasts

see there was fun and games in the aussie warm up game today. 105 plays 96/7. don't seem to be playing the moving ball that well for a change
