It's more that it's one gear, one approach, regardless of the opposition, regardless of the conditions. It would be worth recognising that our bowlers are way weaker than our batsmen, and that sometimes, the risk:reward ratio needs adjusting to the context of conditions and opposition and sometimes the bowler. It's very unlikely they'll bail us out. This is the area where the side could improve hugely. As you say, the odd collapse here or there is expected from every side, but minimising this should be a key. It's particularly costly in a knockout tournament which is precisely what England should be thinking about and preparing for.

I actually think against India’s batting, you need to be playing quite a few shots and taking risks looking for the big to huge score, because of your own bowling, no matter what happened today. Whether going all guns blazing is so necessary against a worse side is a different question but probably one with the same answer.
