A result venue, which can produce big first innings scores. Although the last Ashes Test here was fairly low scoring with both side seamers doing well. Must be Lyon's fav ground. He always gets wickets.
Some rain forecast last 2 days. A back draw to lay. If Aus win the toss, we may see Eng batted out of the match by day 2. Anderson and Broad not the bowlers they were 3 years ago.

That's strange the laughing faces were not coming up........
I have not been betting just watching but I have laid 100/245 England as I would give 250 for an England win and will cop the compensation if we only draw........ It would need to be a monumental Aussie collapse for England to win and I just can't see it in the time available.........
Would be nice if they could give a weather update instead of all this crap
still gotta bat out about another 45 overs if they're gonna go at the current snail's pace. couple of wickets with the new cherry and england be favourites
just be thankful we have got pictures of the ground in the background rather than replays of games from the 1860s
1.05pm The pitch is uncovered and the bowling creases being swept, stumps going in. England may have got fortunate with the timing of that rain
I enjoyed that clip in the blowers piece where buffs got 22 off one over yesterday........ If we are going to win we will need some more of that later....... Providing later comes......
We got to be careful from here on, one bad decision and greens could be all washed away.
Suddenly doesn't look to clever : Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, Jackson Bird, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon
lovely...come on england
great catch jonny, looks better everytime i see it

day 5 throws up some incredible stuff.... that I won't be betting on.
I've given way too much money back on day 5 over the years

What about the other end?
35-40 overs to bat
lead over 100
looks extremely unlikely beyond that
pitch still a road
I don't bet draws in tests but 1.42 is tempting

Good advice that. I'm more or less level now with a slight bias on Eng, which I'll drip more onto if the odds drift out quickly again.
od rather marsh just play his normal game than try and block
smith is different class at defending but he should maybe let the other players play their natural game....... Then again that is our chance....

steve smith is one of the most talented blockers of a cricket ball ive ever seen
Draw must come in viciously if new ball not threatening!
has there ever been a batsman get like 5 runs off 100 balls

Cook in most of his innings?
In terms of time, Hanif would have, going by modern-day over-rates, taken more than five hours for his 20 runs,
5 hours and 200 balls for 20 runs, this guy is legit

This had best defensive batting I ever saw from Saffers top order on a bunsen, Hashim Amla & Faf http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/11287/scorecard/903607/india-vs-south-afr... ultimately it failed but it was heroic.
eng need smith soon otherwise MCG groundsman wins
I think the draw is very nearly a certainty.......... May be a shake of hands at tea if the Aussies are still virtually intact
4 down at tea should be a handshake but root will carry on after tea for a bit even at 4 down
a lot of excitement from some people, this is a road
I'm still following every ball, its a hard slog. I'm always in for the penny in for the pound.
nicked 100 and should have gone to bed at lunch.........
when is the earliest they can shake hands? last 15 or earlier?
if it quacks like a draw and walks like a draw...
Need a bit of this

He sent me a PM, told me he's had to take on extra shifts at Tesco due to some exceptional losses on this series
Thought as much. He's had a rough 2017 bless him. The cricket forum just isn't the same without his inane comments. I genuinely hope he can recover. Don't like seeing anybody skint.
Try my best,
I owe you an apology. I am so sorry. I thought you were an imbecile. You are not.
