Weather looks good, although NZ forecasts can be changeable.

I expect a typical NZ wicket that doesn't deteriorate much. Can get big 2nd innings scores here. NZ recently got 680.

Market doesn't rate WI's chances. Southee doubtful.

NZ should win, but could be closer than the odds indicate. I'll look to get on NZ at a bigger price in play.

Should have no trouble getting double figures Windies who continue to defy 'such odds'.

Can expect the draw to be 'in play'.

NZ should win, but no value at current odds.

That said, they appear better in nearly every department.

Isn't Shai Hope not the 2nd best bat in the lineups? and Kraigg Brathwaite might be the 4th or equal 4th with Latham behind Kane SH & Roscoe.   Doesn't look a mismatch to me, looking forward.

Windies are a much improved test side, recently beating England in a test match and dominating a test series in Zimbabwe, NZ do not appear that strong on paper !!

I see that NZ have confirmed Southee won't play (as PXB stated) looks like a big miss!

Well well !! if Southee out, then the Kiwis playing two newbies, watling out is also a big miss Shocked Windies racked up 500 runs in the NZ A game match and arguably other than Williamson Windies have the better batting line Shocked

After enjoying two days in the ascendancy, the West Indians ended the drawn tour match in Lincoln on a lower note: they were dismissed for 186 in their second innings and then failed to dismiss Tom Latham and Jeet Raval, who are set to open for New Zealand in the first Test, in two hours before the end of the game.

The third day had begun with the West Indians on 53 for 2, leading by 267 runs after a hefty batting effort in the first innings and then their bowlers dismissing New Zealand A cheaply. However, that run of form dipped with wickets falling early: Roston Chase was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson, who was called into New Zealand's Test squad as cover for Tim Southee, and 71 for 3 became 72 for 4 when Jermaine Blackwood was out for a duck to Hamish Bennett.

Opener Kraigg Brathwaite went on to make 88 and put on 70 with Shane Dowrich for the sixth wicket before retiring out. The innings ended swiftly after that, with James Neesham and Bennett mopping up the tail.

New Zealand A batted 29 overs in their second innings with Raval remaining unbeaten on 32 and Latham on 28. The West Indians used eight bowlers once again, but unlike in the first innings - when everyone took a wicket - no one had success this time.

Sounds like the Windies bossed the game !! After scoring 451 first up in a three day tour game, the windies were chasing a result in their 2nd innings, thereafter with 30 odd overs to go they experimented. I really like the windies attitude at the moment, Holder has really galvanised a young unit over the past few years and his efforts are just beginning to pay of.

Not forgetting that NZ A were skittled out for 237 first up where Raval scored 1 from 20 balls and Latham 24 Shocked

Hard to work this one out for me. 1.38 is very skinny on NZ, and 1.18 on lay the draw is very skinny too. Its not going to rain, Wellington will give 5 glorious days, we are in the middle of the driest November in 100 years and there are already water restrictions in place... (cue to big rains on the way), but I have not seen water for a long time. So 5 full days play, cannot really rely on the WI batting, but NZ are weaker in the bowling without Southee. Think it will be a result and probably a NZ win but 1.38 is just too skinny for me to get on. Might have to trade this and see what happens after the toss.

A dry pitch and I don't see a spinner in NZ's lineup. What say you Tyco?

Not sure how you can bet 1.36 NZ verses 8.2 Windies when both teams are quite evenly matched !!

I think WI are starting to resemble a cricket team. They are settled and must have a good team spirit by now after much anguish.

I still think NZ are the stronger team both batting and bowling but you never know. I have taken a highly specualtive punt on WI at 8's. Easy come easy go but a potentially profitable speculation and prepared to lose the full stake.

The big questions are what happens of the first and last days and who is batting on them. Pitches always look green in NZ. Is the pitch dry underneath? I don't know.

My tick nicking has gone awry AGAIN Sad tried to pick a bottom and now as I type it has hit 1.32.  Making it worse my entry in the matket was a NZ back of 1.50 Plain I should be quids in here.

I do not know to be honest. The basin always looks green and it does provide something early on for the bowlers but then it turns into 4 days of batting paradise. There have been some pretty big NZ wins here in the past but draws too and the 1.32 now on NZ is just ridiculous. I may start with a Lay of NZ.

Agree with you on this one Tyco. First session will be critical and after that should be a batting paradise. Lay of NZ will be the best trade to start with.

Crazy market so far, all things considered.

Layed 1.38 and 1.32 and backed some draw 8.4

Probably back some Windies big prices also if they lose the toss..

Just be happy to see NZ hit 1.7 plus at some point or even 2/1 Laugh

had a lay in at 1.31, just missed getting matched... oh well will lay anything up to 1.35 pre toss but will wait till after toss for most of stake.

Laid NZ at 1.34. Hoping for a quick trade. Otherwise, Bishoo might do well later.

Windies will also be buoyed after witnessing some pyrotechnics from the bat of Sunil Ambris. The wicketkeeper-batsman was drafted into the squad in place of Kyle Hope, who had looked out of sorts with the bat. Ambris smashed 153 off just 145 balls in the warm-up game and the fact that he did it against a strong New Zealand A outfit would give him plenty of confidence before facing the likes of Trent Boult and Neil Wagner.

By:

I have seen it a lot greener than that in the past. Normally its ok to bat first at the Basin, but the bowlers do get something out of day 1 and then it becomes a road.

pretty standard for NZ , always a massive draw back to lay here.

I fear it could be a 120 all out job!........then again looks sunny and not overcast which is maybe more important than the greeness of the pitch.
