I agree that SRH isn't the most amazing side and the opening partnerships have been somewhat turgid but it's at least one with far better balance than RCB. Of course you have to be scared of Gayle, Kohli and especially AB but none has really fired much this season, Gayle is a very dodgy proposition against decent bowling these days and both Kohli and AB have been out injured so are hardly in form (not that I believe much in form) then the rest of the batting is weak. I was fairly surprised to be able to get a grand on SRH at 2.2, when I think evens wouldn't quite do them justice so felt obliged to have another grand when they got to 2.3. I've done well enough generally and on IPL cricket recently that I'm upping my stakes, probably just in time to have the favourites win a few games and cost me loads.
I really don't get the market love for RCB - SRH has been a better side this IPL and last IPL. You might take the view that a superior side can easily enough have a bad few games just through random variation but that would be an argument for backing RCB at 2.2 if that price were available, not doing so at 1.8 and it's hard to see why anyone would really regard RCB as a good side without just being confused into thinking that 3 good batsmen and 1 good bowler (Badree) make a side no matter how bad everyone else is. |

Okay, I'm slightly overstating how bad RCB is - there are other good players in that team but it's still over reliant on the top 3 for decent scores and not that robust with the ball.

Entirely agree with FS.
And hope you don't mind me posting this on here but FS: A few months ago I had a severe pain in my side which just wouldn't go away made worse by being unable to keep anything down, not even water. After a trip to A&E and having been put on a drip, blood tests and x-ray they said there was no sign of a kidney stone and was diagnosed as dehydration. Recommendation was to drink eight pints of water a day. They prescribed co-codamol with instructions to phone for an ambulance if it reoccurred (which didn't re-assure me!). Yesterday just as match was starting same thing happened. Co-codamol were no help as they came back up with a lot of force! Pain lasted until around 11 at night. No pain this morning. I haven't been drinking a gallon of water a day as find it impossible (alcohol yes but water no!). So, do do you think it's worth a trip to the doc's or is it an occupational hazard that comes with drinking too much? |

They are still getting stuck into RCB. Is Warner not fit or something? I cannot understand these odds.

Charlie two of my sons, one 45 the other 38 both have regularly had similar problems. They drink a lot of alcohol, get pains for a few days, a week sometimes. When they stop drinking it gets better. They have had tablets to reduce stomach acid. The main problem appears to be too much alcohol.

Thanks Esox. Not sure if twice in four months counts as regular. Pain seems to last for about 8 hours. No real problem with stomach acid but do take the occasional Rennie.

Esox - I know people that started regularly suffering from random alcohol-withdrawal seizures, like epilepsy, usually one or more days after a binge. Long term drinking also led one friend to develop a nerve problem called "foot-flop", which I luckily spotted whilst walking behind them one day, reversible only if you spot the signs early. Keep an eye on those sons of yours.

Oh and it does sound a bit like a kidney stone but if there was no blood in your urine it's unlikely - depends on whether they ruled it out with urine, an X-ray or a CT, as X-rays aren't very reliable.

FS, thanks.
They said there was a trace of blood in my urine. Pain was on right hand side up a bit from from hip bone. Don't really know the difference between dull and gnawing but i'd guess it was one of those two. Never had surgery. Think they ruled it out by x-ray. I was surprised by their diagnosis but doctor said it affects people in different ways. First time it happened I'd had the pain all day and then it disappeared "just like that" but came back in the morning which is when I went to A&E. Bowel obstruction would, I think, make sense. I drink a fair bit of red wine which ensures I do the biz regularly. It rings a bell that on the two occasions I hadn't done the biz - but that may be the power of suggestion so not entirely sure. |
