The joke (that he is cr@p at his job) ceased to be funny a decade ago at least. He is getting worse and it is an embarassment tbh, I now hate it when he is on.  He doesnt really add anything anymore and even at his peak was a poor mans Brian Johnstone.

I agree; past his best some time ago & his inane chats detract from the cricket

I hope they never get rid of him. He is a link to the past for me and I enjoy listening to him. I don't disagree that he is noy at his best but quite frankly I don't care. Find someone better...if you can!

Indeed. And this is not a sexist comment because there are some very good female presenters. But how boring and lacking in a sense of humour is Alison Mitchell. She clearly has the knowledge but no warmth or personality to go with it.

Is this the posh old pillock often on TMS? I can't bear listening to him - it ruins TMS for me.

They should just do away with test cricket. How often do you get a decent match? Pakistan hopeless in the 2nd test and England trying underhand tactics to take the match in to a 5th day. TMS mob are probably bored stiff like all the spectators.

Never submit a bet while listening to Blowers on commentary, I found that out to my cost,  he is entertaining & descriptive but well past his best.

Women commentators don't work for me as they tend to Shriek when something exciting happens Ally Mitchell does that though I'll concede she has good knowledge.

have to agree with most on here. just turn it off whenever he's on and have done so for several years

john arlott had the right idea. go when you're still somewhere near your peak. don't hang around when everyone's begging you to go

Long of the opinion shared by most above, not least because he has cost me money on occasion, I have stayed my rancour after seeing this clip of him covering Root's 200:

It really is rather impressive for an old duffer and his genuine love for the game is self-evident.

He drove to India in the 70's in a Rolls Royce!

He is not normal! I like that in cricket commentators. Agreed his cricket commentary is not of the required standard but again I say I don't care!

Not a fan of blower but my opinion of him rose ten-fold after seeing that clip, amazing!

It'll be a sad day when a truly posh voice leaves us. Something so very English about listening to Blowers and although he's guilty of some incredible howlers, I like him.

At OT he called Mooen as Moin Khan and Yasir Shah as Yaseer Arafat!

But who can forget his 'wheely bin' description of Gilo and lately 'a step ladder on wheels' for Cook! The description of their running style is bang on!

He would often describe a batsman/bowler who was scratching his crease as a 'demented chicken', Ambrose as a stork (!) and brilliantly, Shane Watson as a '5 bedroom house running into bowl'!!!!!!!!!!!!

'My dear old thing' will be missed. And I do like his 'medium sized aeroplanes' flying over head not to mention his 'thoughtful pigeons' pecking on the square..

some of these youngsters don't remember the posh voices of TMS

They were Golden.

So many of them were steeped in the history of the game and even played with, watched, saw or in some cases had dinner with some of the greatest players the game has ever produced.

I don't think I knew this till after he died but Jon Arlott  ( not posh but ) was responsible for bringing Basil D'Oliveira to England and that in itself played a significant part in the dismantling of Apartheid. Cricket is a mighty game!

oh and this

" do you expect me to talk, Blofeld "

" No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die! "
