Like some others, I fancied WI early, and their combination of big hitters and sharp spinners looks a difficult combination to beat in Indian conditions and Nagpur in particular. If WI bat first, I'll back them and not look to trade. Same if SAF bat first, but maybe with a trade.

You are right pxb. Strong batting sides so back at start of innings for a profitable trade.
Will be interesting to see if Stein gets another outing today.

West Indies paying $2.02 to win the toss in a 50/50 market. Am I missing something here?

Commission means you get less than evens for a coin toss.

I know its becoming boring but...the winner will be the side who wins the toss(an amazing percentage have done so in this W/C when the two teams are close in the betting)

Yes I understand but that means the person who requested those odds also gets even less after commission.

Might be Betfair putting the odds up.

It was only about £48 at 2.02 that I saw. Nothing major.

Not sure if that's a wise choice. Backing SA to start.

Assume the toss thing is just someone who's toss at betting. Can't see why Betfair would hedge even a big bet on the toss: just accept the money and be smug half the time, although I don't really understand what they do to prop up the exchange.

I have that stupid AB innings against WI in my head. Don't really want to get on SA at 1.7 or so though, as feels to me the true odds are much nearer evens than that.

To me it's not a question of match odds it's a question of will SA shorten while they're batting?

7.05pm West Indies win toss and bowl. Francois says he would have batted first anyway so he's all happy, too. Everyone's a winner. To my eye, it looks like a good surface...Francois really was delighted to be batting first. It's one of those tracks, then, which nobody really knows how it will play. All the more exciting!

They not only changed the pitch, there were some extra ICC guys supervising the pitch preparation after Nagpur got a warning in the last test and prepared similar pitches in the early stages. Could be they have prepared a runway to appease the ICC.
