Although he could be caught, it only needs one slip-up from Gayle and a couple of other chasers to put him out of sight.
I would rather go with "runs on the board" especially now his price has lengthened as a result of Gayle's impressive innings against a rather wayward attack.

Seeing all these roads everywhere, I think it is going to take a total of 300+ to win tournament top bat. Bangladesh's Iqbal will need to score another 50+ in his remaining 3 group matches or he will get passed.

44 more from Shahzad today puts him 63 behind Iqbal having played one more.

Have topped up on Ikky with a little saver on Joe Root. Gayle may yet have to bat today but won't be adding many if he does.

That was a little bonus, Gayle not batting. WI move onto the snakes pits of Nagpur for their final two games

Had Gayle been fit today he could easily have got 70 or 80 more so quite a bonus although he could still do it especially if WI get the extra games.
De Kock and de Villiers, like Root are still a threat too but Iqbal should get a few more before he's done.

You get mug bets in these kind of markets. I put up a Iqbal back at 3 early yesterday and some was taken.

Stats say openers make the most runs in T20, which is why I am not to worried about Root and AB. And see de Kock as the main threat (and Gayle was).

We just don't know. Have checked his Facebook page and there is no useful information yet as to the nature of the illness or if he expects to be fit to play in the next game.
We have to accept that this type of market is susceptible to missed games due to illness or injury as seen with Gayle yesterday.Poor liquidity doesn't help either.

Possible to be ill for long enough to miss another game or two with gastroenteritis but unlikely, I agree. I'm trying to get 3.9 on. This tournament has largely passed me by betting wise, although got a bit out of England against SA and NZ against Aus.

Guptill and Gayle look the best chance to catch Iqbal, assuming WI make the semis.

I'd take big spreads over low liquidity most days.

Tamim looks strong after yesterday's score.
Guptill would have to average around 60 in 3 remaining games to pass his current total and Gayle nearer 70. Not impossible of course and Tamim has one more knock.

Barring miracles from Guptill, this is Tamim's isn't it? Root and Gayle got nothing each in their last games and The **** is rather unlikely to get through to semis.

You can't write Quinton off just yet as England's propensity for de Kock up is legendary.
The best present for Tamim backers is that he plays tomorrow and gets 30 or more runs so that we can forget the rest.

Perfect scenario today would be that Guptill is rested, Tamim gets 30 odd & then England win but Root gets a duck.
That knocks SA & SL out & gets rids of De Kock, AB & Dilshan.
Then we are down to two/three competitors really.
Gayle - still a long way behind & maybe rested in the last group match
Guptill - not sure Delhi/Kolkata will suit his batting in the semis or final (if NZ get that far)
Kholi/Khwaja - Only one of these players can get through & both a long way behind
Root - In great form and could be the sting. However, two back to back games on slow decks in Delhi should negate him to a certain extent.
I can cover any of these players and still be in the clover.
Just going to wait until these last few group games have finished and then reassess.

Didn't really pay any attention to this market until already too late to make much but still happy with the 2.86 I got £100 on.  Trying to get more but it's not quite so appealing at 1.39, is it?

I'm green for about the same amount on Iqbal, de Kock, Guptill and Gayle. Only Root could spoil my book and I consider that very unlikely.

I don't have a lot on, fortunately for rationality, unfortunately for profitability. Guptill made a late bid for the 50 over WC top scorer with a couple of monsters, didn't he, but making up 150 is a lot harder with only 20 overs to bat at most.

As I talked about a few days ago, Guptill has a slight hamstring injury. Rested today

Nice that.  I got some more on Tamim matched after he failed, which clearly didn't help his cause but with Guptil not playing and Root not getting a big score seems just fine to me.  It's looking tough for anyone to catch him up now, verging on extremely tough.

Gayle might get rested too. He's got a hamstring injury that he's nursing.

It's all good, isn't it?  Gayle will need another monster to get close even playing all three though.  He's nigh on 200 runs down, in a format where tons are scarce.

Root and Gayle look the only plausible options with Guptill just about still in the picture but they're all running out of games.  Even with a won semi final (which I suppose isn't an independent variable with a big semi final score), it's a massive ask.  I've mopped up the remaining 1.2 anyway.  How much do you have on jucel?

Huge amount for two games, bearing in mind that even a really big score by T20 standards, say an 80, still leaves a fair bit to do in the other game. Also don't think we'll have high scoring pitches will we?

Kohli was just a flash in the pan . Can Root get a ton? Possible but the 7% available on Tamim at the moment might look generous with hindsight.
