I must admit I'm somewhat unsure as to the betting implications of the pink ball. It has produced early wickets under lights in Starc's hands, but that could happen with any coloured ball. There have been complaints about it's deterioration, but that seems to be a problem with all Kookaburras at the mo.
I've read that colour has no effect the physical characteristics of the ball, and reports of it behaving differently under lights are caused by dew (which shouldn't be a problem in Adelaide).
All in all, I think we may see more wickets, just from playing under lights. And is bad light no longer a factor?

It is quite clearly a wait and see.
Although Aus seem the dominant team the underperforming NZ Spearhead is capable of moving the ball under lights to even things out. The ball does though deteriorate very quickly so it may get down to timing issues. Anyone with any idea would be well advised to get in and get out quickly but more imporatntly look for bets with low downside risks that they can reverse from with minimal losses. For example if you bet on the batting side under lights in the twilight hour the bigger risk is the downside if they lose quick wickets. If they don't the price will not move up as quickly as when wickets fall. I myself will do my best to stay out of it completely and watch and hopefully learn! |

About 7 days ago I backed the draw in the Ind v Saffers game @ 3.83 pre match knowing that the weather COULD BE BAD but it was always value even without the weather. I am now willing to lay the day/night match draw at 4.6 and i'm getting matched??????? Has anyone got a clue???
Day/night matches get messy and with the weather looking so good the draw looks unlikely being a result ground. The Draw should be around the 6/7 to 1 mark. Also consider the fact that NZ Don't want the draw?? |

if its played under lights, you would assume the floodlights will be the lights used . So it should be a non-issue..........

WD, there are free VPNs available for Chrome. I used one a bit. Might have been Hola. Not bad for free.

Draw shortening a bit here and at the bookies. NZ playing a 2 day pink ball day-nighter at the WACA to get some practice in prior to Adelaide. Still think we will see wickets under lights, but other opinions welcome.

There is enough unfamiliar territory including team changes to make me think that this will not be a draw. Still a while to go so will wait and see if the draw price contracts further before laying it.

Mr Death and pxb, thank you both for your advice. I spoke to BF last night and I was told that I could use a vpn although they do not encourage it. I just wish they put the countries of what you can and can't do on BF. I am only in Azerbaijan for a few days but it's always handy to know if I can use the site or not. Still can't see this ever being a draw.

I read that free vpn with no adds could mean your details being circulated on a list. I am just a little averse to that as I have said before I don't even have a Storecard Loyalty thingy should the information be forwarded to Interpol or The International Court of Human Roghts! I am well happy with Hotspot Shield. It also provides enhanced security for example if you are using Hotel or MacDonalds wifi Just as an aside hypothetically Betfair have said they don't encourage use of a vpn. why? If it is being used for security on free wifi surely it is a good idea? Secondly are they worried that maybe some unscruulous people maybe using it to subvert the laws of a foreign Land? Would that be illegal and could it land a user in hot water? For example gambling in a muslim country whizz  ? |

Have been toying with the idea of laying the draw but that means paying quite a premium to cover the possibility of a NZ win. Back of Australia it is.

Can't look at Australia price of 1.65-1.67 and have any even remote enthusiasm for backing them. I still feel this Kiwi bowling attack has more to it than it's shown so far and the batting, reliant though it is on Williamson, isn't bad. Yes, of course Aus rightly odds on but I'd want above 1.75 to be keen.

It seems clear we will get a fair amount of grass on the wicket, and it's predicted to seam and spin somewhat. OTOH, I've read CA want this to go 5 days.
While, I'm not writing off NZ's chances. Their lack of pink ball experience and Boult below his best, means they are too short IMO and I'm laying them, plus a modest back to lay of the draw as batting should be OK in the day and we could be looking at 200/2or3 before the lights come on. Not much advantage to winning the toss. |
