Not easy this one. Bangladesh are much improved but can't see them winning against South Africa in a potentially rain shortened match. South Africa didn't cover themselves with glory in the first Test and would need to improve to win this.
The draw is skinny but I think it will shorten further if the rain showers materialise so am starting with a back to lay of the draw. |

I know the cricket schedules are getting ever more frenzied and crowded but do they really have to continually schedule matches in monsoon seasons in the sub-continent?
By:
Moderately heavy rain now forecast early Thursday and Friday. Otherwise just light showers, which on previous forecasts mostly don't eventuate.
Could well be a typical Test match. Looks like a draw end day 2, but produces a result. |
By:
Banglas batting under sunny skies.

Not sure that the heavy rain for tomorrow will materialise either.
Luckily for me a draw lay I left overnight at 1.33 to neutralise my pre-match back was matched so am sitting on a draw green without liability. Thinking of laying some more but holding off for now. Banglas doing well but just lost another wicket, hope they get 300. |
By:
Checked the forecasts again. They don't seem all that bad at the moment so have layed draw again at I.65. Only have very small red on the draw so may lay again sometime in the future depending on how things develop.
By:
Banglas starting to fold now, 300 looking a long way off.
By:
Ban 246/8 at stumps.
Doesn't look like being a draw unless a substantial number of overs are lost to weather. Draw price still thinks that the weather will win. |
By:
think the only place where they said rain was cricinfo, showers forecast but generally looks ok for the duration, as most of the weather goes east of the peninsula. PXB where are getting that rain forecast from please ? draw same price as start of match and had a full days play and 8 wkts gone

By:
Tomorrow looks the worst out the 5 days.Draw priced in for that already.
By:
would have to be a washout then, but I am just not getting anything like that from the weather models !!!!
By:
Wow if you were there like at the ground this could be the draw lay of the century. I woke up and say Bangladesh 8 down, thought the draw might have been out to 3.00 (with weather concerns) and was surprised to see it at 1.6.
By:
Weather seems OK per the radar. Can't see the whole day being washed out today. That main system has more seed Dhaka. Looks clear to me at the moment
By:
* missed not more seed ffs
By:
Thanks Jucel. Wouldn't be surprised if some time is lost as some forecasts are showing 100% risk of light rain around midday and torrential rain late in the day. Have left my draw lay in place as I hope the game will be able to move on during the dry periods.
By:
PTTT, note the date. From 3 days ago. yr.no and others.
Forecasts looking OK at the mo. Although large weather uncertainty keeping the draw down. I have decent green after backing the draw above 2 and laying below current price. Although no where near Foinavon's 1.33. Well played. |
By:
Today looks the worst forecast. If they can get 60 overs in today then there is a very good chance of a result. Bangladesh should bowl well on this deck as there was quite a lot of turn yesterday & the pitch is dry/dusty already.

Mmmm! Official forecast.
Yesterday’s monsoon deep depression over North East Bay and adjoining Bangladesh coast intensified into a Cyclonic Storm “KOMEN” (with ECP 988 hpa) now lies over the same area and was centred at 30,1200 UTC within half a degree at 22.2°N and Long 91.4°E (R) Lat 22.2°N and Long 91.4° E. It is likely to move in a Northerly direction and may cross Chittagong coast near Sandwip by midnight Today (31 July, 2015). After land fall the system may move West-Northwestwards and weaken gradually by giving precipitation. |
By:
I posted the overnight lay more in hope than expectation. Occasionally one can get lucky.
I've just made a small back of South Africa (half my draw trades) the thought being that if they bat somewhere near their usual ability they should only need bat once to win, in view of the modest Bangladeshi score yesterday. If it doesn't come off then would hope to be able to salvage a fair bit of the stake before the end of the match. |

Heavy rain in Dhaka
By:
9.05am, day two Morning, everyone. I have news for you, and it isn't good news. There's heavy rain in Mirpur. Mohammad Isam, our man at the venue, has this description: "Raining cats, dogs, foxes, bears, tigers, etc. Both teams remain at the hotel. Full covers on. Not a single soul at the ground."
By:
By:
We know these things can happen. It's the risk you take leaving open positions overnight (overnight for me, not everyone). No need to panic still three days to go. Haven't looked at the forecasts yet for what they are worth.
By:
Still a decent chance of a result, rain permitting.
Saf bat nearly 2 days. Set Ban a target of 300 or so. Knowing they (Saf) can bat again. |
By:
Have checked the forecasts and don't like the look of tomorrow morning so have levelled out for a small red and will look again when I get up tomorrow (lunchtime in Bangladesh).
Things look better for the second half of the match so a result is still possible. |
By:
After yesterday, you can not rely on any forecast or computer models in this region, as similar with sri Lanka, hence why everyday the forecast is thundery showers, for at least six months a year !!!
By:
This weather is more to do with the cyclone than the monsoon. Btw does it ever stop raining in Chittagong? Every time I look at the radar it seems to be pouring down there. Poor f*ckers.

Absolutely pissing it down again!!

The news from Dhaka is that it is still raining. Mohammad Isam, our Bangladesh correspondent, does not think we are going to have play today either.

Oh well, not too much damage for me, should have stuck to my original pre-match lay.
These things are sent to try us. |

*pre-match draw back.
