WTF has this got to do with the Welsh?- no doubt there will be a parade of Welsh flags on the pitch again- and some inapropriate singing in a defunct language which no-one on the pitch wil;l give a damn about in the context of the match/series.
The deluded administrators of our game should be pushed out .
This was a disgrace last time and its compounded by a repeat of the same mistake.
Why give up home advantage by playing on neutral soil?
It gives the Aussies a soft start and could well set the scene for the series.
I'm steaming over this- and have been for a good few months.

Should definitely keep the matches in the home country for a home series, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Barbados.... far better choices.

The Ashes tournament celebrates one of cricket’s most intense and time-honoured rivalries. From its inception in 1882, the sport’s most distinguished test competition has pitted the nations of England and Australia against one another. Held biannually, the Ashes are hosted by each country on an alternating basis and have generally comprised of a series of five test matches (although there have been occasions on which six matches have made up a series). Whilst victory ensures that the coveted trophy is awarded to the winning team, a draw allows the Ashes holders to retain the title. Derived from a headline in the Sporting Times heralding England’s defeat to Australia in 1882, the name of the contest has endured the tournament’s 150 year history and has come to symbolise the fervour with which the competition is fought. The original trophy, a small terracotta urn, is said to contain the remnants of the bails from the first series and is currently held in the MCC Museum at Lord’s. This historical prize was presented to the winning team until 1990 when the MCC commissioned the urn shaped Waterford Crystal Trophy that is awarded today. This has - should have- nothing whatsoever to do with the Welsh I am not anti Welsh- I lived in Pembrokeshire for 4 years and loved it and them; - cricket - and particularly the Ashes- are a part of history and should be cherished ; - playing in Wales- and just watch the opening ceremony which will promote Wales with a parade of Welsh flags and a Welsh national anthem singalong- which is what will happen - is bizarre and inappropriate. Is there a single English or Aussie cricket lover here who would - in all honesty and hand on heart-not prefer this match to be played on a top English ground? I'd love to here the thoughts of the players! How would the Aussies react if an Ashes match were to be played in Wellington or Aukland ? Unthinkable! The Ashes are special - very special- and the history should be both observed and respected. Cardiff is inappropriate. And those who say otherwise should reflect on this - be honest - and retract.  :3rd February 2015 03 Feb 15 15:22 Woke up too late for the 2nd ODI by mistake. Had about 300ml vodka left from the day before. Took a watching brief on the match with a cup of tea and a few joints. Good total from NZ - No chance for Pakistan. Unusually for them, an impressive opening stand. Obviously they will go into meltdown trying to chase the target so I laid >300 runs at an average of 1.59. Finished the vodka so went out early to buy more. Bet had come in by the time I got back. Won £20.61. Played poker on Unibet for a bit (4euro SNGs) - won about 10euro. Traffic pretty good for the time of day. Done for the day now, just finishing the new bottle of vodka. Should go to pool league tonight but I'll be obviously be too drunk. I think we'll ignore this drug lord... |

Whilst I have nothing against Cardiff, I think that it should be the traditional test grounds of Lords, Oval, Edgbaston, Trent Bridge, Headlingley and Old Trafford that get the Ashes tests.

The Welsh will hi-jack the 'opening ceremony' - no doubt we'll have a load of red dragons on display - on the pitch no doubt - and have to suffer the bellowing out of Gwlad Gwlad I'll be fecking Gwlad if it starts p1ssing down half way through and they all troop off. We've already "sold out" by selecting players who have previously played against us so I guess staging a test outside England is not a surprise. European Tour golf events are often held in Asia and The Tour de France cycling now has a stage in England. The Premier League have talked about having a set of football fixtures played outside Great Britain. It's been vetoed so far but it's only a matter of time. Despite most sports fans wanting to maintain traditions the administrators greed for more money always wins out in the end. Sad but true.
