India currently 156/2 off 32 overs. Going well with Dhawan looking at a ton. Should get 300 minimum from here.

Is anywhere there and able to offer insight on the dark clouds hovering and whether rain is likely to threaten or shorten the game later on?

Yeah, but capable of cameos.  Need one of these 3 to play most of the way through for sure.  But likely to do so all the same.  Most batsmen have not had too many issues here, and the balls well old now.  Wouldn't be backing India anywhere near 1.38 at this stage anyway.

India are a funny one.  on these pitches they are obviously very unlikely to win the whole thing.  On their day though they can beat anyone.  Defo one of the best teams in the world in this format.

Report Only-the-Brave February 22, 2015 10:02 AM GMT
Yeah useless test side but in this format they're right up there as it's the one that matters in India.  Not world champs for nothing.  None of the favourites will want to play them - would be shocked if India win the tournament though.

Hopefully Ashwin can nick one of the 2 lefties out here

Coming down to waiting for the finals to have a bet tbh.  This is beyond words how bad SA have treated this chase.  LBW to a tailender, fair enough.  But apart from the first couple, SA have stuck the finger up to themselves.  India haven't gotten them out, they got themselves out.  Beggars belief.

Playing and beating Pakistan was big for India in terms of momentum/pressure.  Pleased the fans/makes them forget about the series before that.  Think it had a big effect on the players mentally and how they have freed up here.

Report Only-the-Brave February 22, 2015 10:37 AM GMT
Of course not but it takes a huge amount of pressure off.  The rivalry is huge - losing to Pak would have had an awful backlash.  As it was it was an easy (yet significant due to rivalry) game that got the fans believing again and the players themselves out of the rut.

agree. whalleed is unacceptably poor no 7 and his bowling is awful at the moment.

Report DStyle February 22, 2015 11:31 AM GMT
i'm not entirely convinced that ab's runout was the turning point. it stopped a revival but i think they lost it after amla was out. it wasn't a wicket for going hard on from the off, you needed to play yourself in and stay in. it was about keeping wickets in hand, rather than worrying about the rate.
Report LendUsAFiver February 22, 2015 12:15 PM GMT
Fell asleep! Nice result to wake to though. Market had this completely wrong at the innings break. I know the market loves SA and there are many reasons for that but this wicket certainly wasn't one of those times.
Report BJT February 22, 2015 10:47 PM GMT
Don't think there was a turning point.  SA bowled poorly, and batted worse.  Gave up their wickets, nearly every one of them.  Rather than India getting them out, they did it to themselves.  Turning into one of those tournaments where games aren't really taken seriously until the knockout portion.  Basically, if you don't lose to a minnow, you make the finals.  I don't understand that mentality, as any sportsman should love the challenge, and thrive when they are out on the field, as that is what drives them or they wouldn't be international cricketers.
If a proud team like South Africa don't value their wickets, hard to see how any other nation would.  Well, except the minnows, who are having the time of their life playing on the biggest stage in the sport.  Have more respect for Afghanistan than South Africa at the moment.

Bring on the AFL where they will break a rib and demand to play on through it.  4 days and counting.
