They have to avoid being made to look silly like Hussain at the Gabba that year (I think it was the Gabba)

However you could fully understand if they sent Australia in, knowing our weakness is our batting despite the fact we've won both game by 200+ runs

I think they have to. To put Australia in would be timid.

Wouldn't be surprised if they didn't bat at all...  Haven't yet, no point starting now.

Heat is going to be a big factor. Not normally that hot in Perth mid-December.

Win toss and bat, so as not to field in the heat.

I would not be surprised if Australia put the poms in and they declared without facing a ball

One spell of bowling can win this test

I would be happy if the game was in the balance (yes I understand you were trying to be funny).

If the game was in the balance then we would have a competitive game of cricket and not a 200 runs or more smashing.

If England don't pick a team to intimidate the Aussie batters then they may as well come home. Bresnan, Broad, Swan and Anderson wont' do it for me with Broad the only one carrying a modicum of threat. Finn must play. He may not come off but they have to roll the dice here.

If we bowl first I fear another Perth 2010 (or even another Brisbane/Adelaide 2013). If we bat first then you get the feeling it might turn into one of those arse-nippers like  Melbourne 1998 or Headingley 98 v SA. Or even dare I say it Trent Bridge '13

As for the choice they have to bat. If they bowl then at 2-0 up the Aussies can afford to relax that little bit more. If they bat and post a good first innings total then a little doubt will creep into the still frail Aussie batters minds and it could be game on.

England 279, Aussies 301, England 324, Aussies 283. Maybe Cool

I'll be very surprised if England make anywhere near 600 runs in this match. Maybe 400 runs and you could be nearer the mark.

Now you know how we felt in 2010 when we kept winning by an innings Grin

If you want to live in the past we can talk about the 16 years where England couldn't win the ashes

I would rather talk about today though
