Looks very green in that picture.
Shillingford's and Sammy's bowling actions are under scrutiny by the ICC and they may cop bans. |
By:
Samuels not Sammy.

Weather is fine. 90 overs every day except day 4 and 5 because test will be over by then.
By:
could be a hint of rain on friday but that is only a hint and at this stage we are set for 5 days of 90 overs. Anyone else see the state of the pitch... it looked like a billiards table and I am not referring to the smoothness....
By:
NZ will have to beat their captain."we knew the rain was coming"
112 to get in 30 overs in first test with rain on the way. slog....slog slog at start of final innings. Close down if 3 down for less than 40 runs. After all Nz had not won in previous outings. |

previous 9 outings

I'm backing the draw at these prices. It may seam all over the place day 1, but looks to be a flat pitch after that.
By:
NZ starting to look pretty short as well. The WI looked like they could put up a good fight in game 1. Don't know about backing the draw yet pxb, but it is starting to look appealing. NZ Tab still have these odds : NZ 1.75, WI 4.00, Draw 3.50. Anything abouve 6's pre toss I will be getting into.
By:
well its 9.24pm nz time and now nz are offered at 1.77. I am starting to think these prices are getting crazy. lose the toss and NZ will be 2.00, win the toss they may be 1.65? But I will be laying 1.65 all day long. Yes NZ are the better side but not by those proportions.
By:
5.2 now to lay the draw is clearly idiotic.
Im hanging fire a little while longer and this could be a lovely draw to back to lay pre toss!! After that got the feeling it will trade alot nearer to 2 or 2.5 sometime during the first three days and that will be the time to lay it |
By:
it was wet in wellington yesterday was it not, which can't have helped preparing this wicket.
i got in a small lay of the draw at under 4s which i'm happy to let run right now. probably bail/secure if wi win the toss, but will let run should nz win. no point in opposing the market's momentum without good reason to do so. nz win toss and bowl, and the wicket does what everyone is expecting it to, and the draw isn't coming back in until a poor weather forecast or wi's second dig. |

By:
Williamson back in team at 3
By:
DStyle, I can assure you it was as dry as a bone in Wellington yesterday with a nice breeze which would have helped dry the wicket. My mate went for a game of golf in the afternoon. Not a drop in sight. But that said the wicket does look like it will do something.
By:
Was miffed to miss laying the draw at 3s but happy with 4s I got since it's up to 5s now. Prices look about right now IMO: NZ far more likely to cope with bat & ball if it's a genuine greentop, as they're suggesting.

check out the link I posted yesterday....
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/9495781/NZ-pacemen-brace-for-green-grass-of-home Although to be fair it does look a bit dryer today. |
By:
thanks tyco. I was just off the forecast.
By:
Have started with a lay of NZ as a trading position.
The market seems to think the home side just need to turn up to win. I'm hoping the West Indies will give a better account of themselves this time. |
By:
Cotrell and Narine must play for Gabriel and Samuels/Sammy it's like they have forgot NZ hit over 600 after being put in cos they managed to selvage a draw due to 1 freak innings and rain without Bravo's innings it was a 3rd innings defeat in a row ! I cannot believe they will field the same 11 surely not . . .
By:
anybody but Gabriel and best
By:
wi win toss and bowl
By:
Tyco, what do comms say about the pitch?
By:
comms say it is good for bowling initially and will seam around a bit, less swing. That said it is very overcast in wellington (do not think it will rain though) but this could be a reasonable batting track on days 2 and 3. there is normally more pace and carry in the basin wicket than in the Dunedin one. Other than that they (comms) are in the dark as well. The pitch has browned off somewhat from 2 days ago. 1st session will be crucial.

Thx
By:
bloody hell that pitch (just seen it for the first time) looks very very green. Like its got real grass on it.
By:
like a pitch we would play on on Saturday afternoon club cricket.
By:
Market went cold on WI pretty quickly.
By:
there is not much movement at all. So pitch is green but ball not moving and WI are bowling a lot too short.
By:
Fulton out, NZ 14/1
By:
If WI don't get 3+ this session, draw looking good.
By:
Rutherford out, NZ 24/2
By:
nz 2 wickets down and 1.77

By:
Market likes NZ. I don't fancy draw, so it's been a back of WI to trade if they can knock a few over early doors.
By:
and they drop taylor.... that could be costly
By:
Luck isn't going WI's way.
By:
Yep 2 dropped catches in first 15 overs. NZ picked up run rate last few overs
By:
shocking over from best
By:
These two have taken away early WI impetus. Out of my bet for now, think NZ win it but that price too low this early on
By:
nz far too low. How can you back at 1.56 with WI not even batted yet?
By:
If the pitch is batting better than expected you would think this would apply to the WI batsmen as well.
