The mugs are the people who ignore the stats imo.
Stats tell us about the past, not the present or the future. At best they are a guide. At worst, they are misleading.

Yes of course stats show what has happened previously. But everything you judge players and teams on is by what happened previously, so they are very important. Otherwise, they are just two players and teams you have never heard of, and you are just guessing. Everything would be 50:50.
