We are almost halfway into the tournament, who would you feel as favouites to lift the trophy? Are India backers trading their bets after they have emerged as the favorites?  Lets put in your valuable thoughts.

My odds now to win the ICC Trophy

India 6/4
South Africa 7/2
England 9/2
Sri Lanka 6/1
Australia 16/1

That is to a 102% book

Where is the value, India are massive, massive value at 6/4 (2.50) so the 2/1 (3.0) on here is simply a stupid price
Why is that I hear you ask, well, we have South Africa, who are genuine chokers, England aren't much good and New Zealand are now on a losing streak, if they do go through, so Sri Lanka are a little bit of value at 6/1 and Australia are just below average. India are by miles the best team is this competition. Best batting side and now unbelievably, are also one of the best fielding sides.
I stated before the competition started, that the best 4 sides were all in 1 group and India topped that winning all 3 and weren't pushed to do so.
Yes its all on the day. The weaker England group, well England have gone through and all of the other 3 teams, have a chance of going through, which tells you a lot about this group

Sorry forgot New Zealand, who I would have in at 10/1, so Push Sri Lanka out to 7/1, Australia out to 25/1 and England to 5/1 and South Africa to 4/1

Why on earth have you got AUS at 16/1???

They need to win tomorrow and by a massive margin just to qualify.

trying to work out the winner odds for AUS.  Got to be somewhere north of 50 though.

I readjusted the odds to 25/1, because I left New Zealand out, but in any sport, the unexpected happens. If the Aussies shot Sri Lanka out for 100, they could still qualify.

India rightly favourites. Easily the best team in the comp.

Best India team away from the subcontinent, perhaps ever. A real surprise to me.

I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in Tests.

its got an england india final written all over it.  final is in edgbaston so the crowd will be 60:40 and loud!  will be a great game.

only way england can win it is bowling first.

pxbeers - India are NOT 'easily the best team in the tournament'.They have performed best so far but are way too short imv as there is little between the 4 semi finalists.

Cri**** - you priced up the tournament, quoted 6/4 India and went on to say that price is massive value ?  Surely the point of doing your own prices is that each price is a true reflection iyo of their chances !!

goshmash,

The prices are a reflection of what the bookmakers have priced them up as. The Betfair prices are slightly higher, than Bookmaker prices. The 6/4 was the price they should have been, in my opinion. The 9/5 which they are on here, having won 3 out of 3, very comfortably, is outstanding value still. My reason why they are great value now, well their unbeaten in this tournament and came out of, not only the strongest group, but the group with the strongest 4 sides in the tournament. Now they have drawn Sri Lanka, who would have lost today, against Australia, had it not been for the Aussies having to chase down the total in 29.1 overs to qualify. India should beat Sri Lanka without any problems. The other semi-final is between South Africa (known chokers) and England who are a aren't a great 1 day side.
Now the prices I gave at the beginning of the tournament, were a true reflection of what I thought the prices should be. My prices I gave, yesterday evening were about what I thought the prices should be with, 6 sides left in the tournament.
I still believe India will win this tourney, beacuase from what we have seen, South Africa are the 2nd best side, but they generally choke at this stage of  a competition and neither England or Sri Lanka will be capable of living with India, unless India, has a very bad day and their opposition has a very good day and SA are the most capable of beating India.
My prices now are at the semi-final stage are.

India 5/4 (2.25)
South Africa 3/1 (4.0)
England 4/1 (5.0)
Sri Lanka 9/1 (10.0)

and that is to a dead 100% book. So looking at my price India are still big, big value, South Africa are around the right price, England are slightly too short a price and Sri Lanka are way underpriced.

These are just my thoughts on the prices. Other people of course may and will have different opinions and that is what the forum is all about.

And they are a true opinion of what I think the prices and chances of each team are, now we know the 4 teams and semi-finals.

cri****, I can't find much to disagree with there. Although I think the SAF choker tag is overdone by people in general.

Yes well, they were cruising to victory in a World Cup semi final match a few years back, against England and then got their run rate extended from 8 an over to about 23 from 1 ball (before duckworth lewis), after a rain break, so that wasn't their fault.

Bound to be some DL action on Thursday and I'd be laying India here based on that.  Far too short.

By:

If Sri Lanka win against India they are in final. There is rain forecast Thurs and if rained off India go through as previously group winners. completed match YES is odds against 2.18-2.42

If its India v England on Sunday, it looks like India are going to go off at around 1.7-1.75 on here and would be worth a bet, at that price.
By:

When: 19 Jun 13 23:30
I'd be shocked if India go off as short as 1.75 against England, despite that being indicated on the outright market right now.

England Outright price at 2.2 now looks bonkers.  market not impressed with a hammering of SA??

we'll be about this price to beat India and we'll be odds on (1.71 ish) to beat SL.

FREE BACK imo

shame SL rolled over so easily. was an awesome opportunity there.

Good call Lix, thought the same myself, not sure Eng would have been as short as 1.7 against SL though.
Now whoever wins the toss wins the final so Eng 2.2 is the value.

England probably need Steve Finn to play, rather than Tim Bressnan, just for the fact, he is slightly different and far more likely to cause Indian batsmen trouble, than Tim Bressnan, who I believe will get smashed by India's batsmen. However I reckon, it will be Bressnan for Finn, in the Final and otherwise the same team.
