i remember watching a sri lankan game once, muruli and someother bat i think actually against new zealand.
the other bat scored a 100, muruli dabbed in and ran off to hug the other bloke, and was then run out, given out if mem is right. |

surely if he kicked it out they would be given 5, 1 run and 4 overthrows
and yeah, best wait until its over before celebrating, ground your bat, ensure umpire sees it, then celebrate ! |

And they had the temerity to kick off big when one of their batsmen ran into our bowler and ran him out! |

Correct Donny Osmond, this happened to me batting out for a losing draw in a league match, we ran 3 and the fielder chased it and it came up about a foot short of the boundary. He then kicked it deliberately over the boundary rather than throw it back as we would have run 4 anyway. We stopped running when he did this after 3 and the umpire called the 4 overthrows plus the 3 runs, so I scored 7 off 1 ball.

claiming this run out is totally not in the spirit of the game imho , I don't care what the law says ,its quite clear Murali didn't want the second run , Shame on New Zealand there , I mean ,really ,dear me ,SHAME ON THEM ,... no wonder they couldn't win in Auckland, this is their Karma |

re kicking it over the rope...should just be a four. Otherwise if they run two and the fielder slides in genuine attempt but pushes it over the rope by accident and it would be a six? no!
I always considered that if you ground your bat then that's it. Murali dismissal was shameful. If you remember Bell did what Panesar did but worse, the ball was not dead and did not cross the line. He could and was reasonably given out and in my view fair enough but Dravid and the Indians decided to play the White man. The Indians felt it was against the spirit of the game. I don't think it was, Bell was an idiot. Monty did ground his bat and although he should have waited and he should be given a kick up the backside it would be a travesty to appeal although the umpires would have to give it out if they didn't consider the ball dead. It is not umpires discretion if the question is asked. If the umpire considers the ball was not dead they must give it out like removing a bail on a backing up batsman although the appeal can be withdrawn if the fielding side reconsider and withdraw their appeal. |

7. Overthrow or wilful act of fielder
If the boundary results from an overthrow or from the wilful act of a fielder the runs scored shall be (i) any runs for penalties awarded to either side and (ii) the allowance for the boundary and (iii) the runs completed by the batsmen, together with the run in progress if they had already crossed at the instant of the throw or act. Law 18.12(b) (Batsman returning to wicket he has left) shall apply as from the instant of the throw or act. |

I can't argue with that Tommy!
Rule 7! |
|
By:
Perhaps he could have done a slide and accidentally knocked it over the boundary.
|

By:
If you watch very closely, Monty left his ground by a few inches (mm) and after Priors defensive shot, grounded his bat back in the crease, before running down to Congratulate his team mate.

It was Dhoni who recalled Bell in 2011 not Dravid
|
|
By:
Yes Dhoni was Captain and withdrew the appeal but Dravid was instrumental in a discussion during Tea about the spirit if the game. If you remember the crowd booed the Indians when they came out after tea then applauded them after Bell came out too. Personally I would have run him out!
I have seen players reach down for the ball and deliberately kick it "accidentally" over the boundary rope with the non standing foot and I have seen them do it accidentally too. |

happened in a game i seen.fielder kicked/tapped ball over for four to keep batsman on strike.only the four was awarded.rightly or wrongly?.also what happens if a batsman runs his bat in,lifts it up and as he is running on past the stumps, then while running has both feet off the ground as the ball hits the stumps? is he in or out?
