SCG 18 results 2 draws from the last 20 starts.
Aus playing 4 quicks and as to be expected pitch by
all reports has more green than usual.
Lankans lose their best bat and best seamer from Melbourne nightmare.
Weather looks a none issue.

Only remote case you can make for the visitors is they easily have
the best spinner of both teams.
Dont expect many to agree however if Aus bowl first I will be very surprised
if they trade above $1.40 for the whole match.

Pre match plays both only if Lankans bat First
Aus win 1 unit anything above $1.30
S.Lanka 1st Innings runs Lay above 300 between $2.20 to $2.40

dead rubber match gonna start with a decent lay of OZ
Report dylansdad January 2, 2013 9:08 PM GMT
starting with a lay of AUS @ 1.28, hoping for better value later in the test, IF Sri Lanka can start off better than last test?
Report Tractor January 2, 2013 9:42 PM GMT
Backed the South Africa, Aus double at 1/4 and 1/3. With SA virtually won it makes Aus 1.666 which is value in my eyes. I'm just going to let the bet ride now. Good luck all

Report ghoststory. January 3, 2013 7:22 AM GMT
Decent effort by most of the top 5 bats....  The usual last 5 Lankan wickets fold for about 50
to get the first innings lay of under 300 just home
I've misread the pitch as it has a lot less movement than i thought..... for this my av AUS
price is only $1.44...well done to those of you who backed in the $1.70's

Pitch looks a belter to bat on for Aus tomorrow......

Will hold all Australian green...... only one more trade for the match an insurance back of Sri Lanka at 15's for $100 ....... if they could somehow set Aus 150+ to win Herath on a day 5
pitch can most certainly get on a roll on a wicket that looks like it will spin.
Report Asparagus Man January 3, 2013 2:18 PM GMT
Didn't see any of this live, but 10's on Lanka looks interesting. 294 a reasonable 'in the game' score in a dead rubber at a result venue.
Report peter64 January 3, 2013 9:27 PM GMT
looks like a reasonably cheap lay of aus here cant see why they would shorten up much tonight during play

surely, no wickets and a couple of hundred runs?

Report peter64 January 3, 2013 9:47 PM GMT
1.5 for 375 runs would be only a lead of 80 market lines are about 410/420 say aus 290/5 at end of play obviously 300/0 or 150 all out would be odds changers
Report MadDogs January 3, 2013 10:14 PM GMT
i know the sl bowling line up is rancid but an aussy batting line up with cowan/hughes in it and johnson at no.7 to be odds on to score 400?

think the draw is a bit value here at 18s / 16 wkts in 2 days day 5 showers if lanka bat half decent or you get a good top order partnership then draw will be much shorter think its was 3.5 when lanka 120 / 2 1st day Shocked

Funny - I was thinking exactly the opposite in that draw should be 100 - GSM etc..

I very much expect a collapse from SL like in the 2nd test

cheers.  isolated showers probably means loss of 10 overs max but I'd place more reliance on that over yr.no - cheers.

not sure 3 days away so maybe none maybe more anyway good luck Happy
Report OzBattla January 4, 2013 8:34 PM GMT
Personally I dont see weather being a factor here. Weather has been perfect down the eastern seaboard, the odd afternoon shower may lose a few overs but not enough to impact the game imo.

Was considering a nibble at SL dont think they have played so bad to this stage and better use of Herath in the 4 innings could make him a factor, however I was hoping for a bit better than the $8.80 on offer currently, will wait and see.
Report lanza January 5, 2013 1:03 AM GMT
sniped a 50 then on the dec.
Report DStyle January 5, 2013 1:07 AM GMT
that declaration wasn't positive, it's just unnecessary and a bit stupid.

the rate was very healthy, the lankans were dispirited, lots of time left, another half hour and they could have another 40 runs. or get out next ball. but the pair of them were moving the game forward that no batting will do for the rest of the test.
Report Dr.Cypionate January 5, 2013 1:08 AM GMT
strange declaration
Report Joel January 5, 2013 1:26 AM GMT
Positive declaration there, good stuff by the Pup
Report DStyle January 5, 2013 1:38 AM GMT
why is it positive joel?

everyone's saying that, but it seems a specious argument to me.
Report DStyle January 5, 2013 1:41 AM GMT
so take ten minutes out the game, sacrifice possible quick runs which will now have to be scored twice in the match (assuming the lankans get a lead) for four overs before lunch.

it's not speeding the game up nor making a result more likely, imho.

i like clarke and his captaincy, but he got this wrong imho.

the nine lot are a disgrace, and along with ritchie's age related reticence and the death of the only neutral commentator, not one of them pointed out that if lyon is getting sharp turn, herath is going to be a massive handful batting last on this.

the DRS is a joke - how was that ball to Clarke deviating so much - dead set out
Report bobojon January 6, 2013 3:41 AM GMT
It is not 100% accurate thats why if you are 3 mtrs down the track then they acknowledge that it may or may not have clipped the stump. It is not designed to reverse that type of decision if the umpire had control of the drs i doubt he would have even reviewed it - that has never been given out in the past i dont think it should be now even with drs. if you are 3 mts down it should be hitting middle before it is reversed and given out
Report Joel January 6, 2013 3:46 AM GMT
Was a bit far down the pitch imo Craig
Report Joel January 6, 2013 3:47 AM GMT
^ what he said
Report DStyle January 6, 2013 3:52 AM GMT
it's another example of the why the DRS has got to stop using these ridiculous heuristics.

it's about the proven error of the system, so let's use that and use that exclusively.

i've said before, it should be based on a conical predicted flight path and if any part of that conical path contains enough space for the ball to miss the stumps, it's inconclusive and stays on field.

it gets rid of this ridiculous middle of the ball inside the inside of the stumps as well.

the current situation  issh1t, and it's the actually the attempt to oversimplify it with flawed heuristics which is ruining it. they are constantly changing them which makes the whole process seem even more uncertain.

(incidentally 1.1 for Clark to shoulder arms to a straight one to let Hussey score the winning runs)
