India 1.57 is about as ridiculous a price as I have EVER seen in ANY sports betting in my entire life. Anyone who does not lump on India here should be permanently banned from betting.
Report Queen_Dulu November 18, 2012 11:42 AM GMT
Just think about it -- England will need to bat a MINIMUM of 55 overs on a 5th day Indian wicket with just 5 wickets in hand to have even the slightest of chances of saving the match. That's NOT a 2.75 shot. India should be 1.16 MAX.
Report trevortricky November 18, 2012 11:43 AM GMT
Queenie you should have got out earlier rampin not gonna help you now
Report Queen_Dulu November 18, 2012 11:50 AM GMT
@trevortricky I'm not ramping. I LUMPED on India at 1.38 last night (check out my post in this thread), and have taken a big green. But once again a decent partnership from England, and the mug market has overreacted. But this is the mother of all overreactions. Anyone who know a fck about cricket knows that a team 5 down going into day 5 with scores virtually level is not a 2.75 shot to save the test.
Report Oh no!! not another Villa fan November 18, 2012 11:51 AM GMT

This game should be evens a draw and India win not 1.16 no way :)

Report OzBattla November 18, 2012 12:24 PM GMT
I am very big green the draw, but I tend to agree that $1.55 is a very very good price India. The partnership has been great but they have to start again tmrw and that isnt as easy as it was the night before. I am going to sleep on it. but wouldnt be surprised to see an early wicket tmrw and then the flood gates open, India chase 50-100 and win by 10 wickets...
Report Lix November 18, 2012 12:40 PM GMT
what do we make of eng's chances here then? seems unthinkable to me that we bat all day for a 200+ lead. India will have been in the field for nearly 3 days when they come out to bat. Gambhir might not bat as he's gone back to Delhi for his Grans funeral.

India chasing 160 in 40 overs would be very interesting.
Report Lix November 18, 2012 12:43 PM GMT

Report Queen_Dulu November 18, 2012 12:57 PM GMT
I think many of you are overcomplicating things. No way England can bat 55 overs here on day 5. Broad, Swann, Bresnan won't hang around on this uneven turning wicket for long. India needs to pick up one wicket in the first 35-40 overs, and they'll EASILY win the match.

Again, the advice is simple: LUMP on India, and go to sleep. Collect your money when you wake up tomorrow!
Report Millionaire_Morse November 18, 2012 1:04 PM GMT
listen son , there is NO WAY ON EARTH india are winning this test .
laying them = free money
just look how toothless they were today , england will be batting all day tomorrow easy .
Report worcester sauce November 18, 2012 1:05 PM GMT
Queen Dulu you may be proven to be right but your logic is so wrong if india dont take a wicket in the 1st 5 overs the draw price will be 2.5 if they havnt taken 1 in 10 overs it will be 2.1 and every run England score the indian price will get bigger and bigger so lumping on at 1.55 is not a very wise thing to do at the moment
Report Queen_Dulu November 18, 2012 1:08 PM GMT
Well, if you don't trust my advice, at least check out Innocent Bystander's tip on Twitter. He has also advised lumping on India at these prices.
Report worcester sauce November 18, 2012 1:13 PM GMT
like i said you may be proven right but look at it like this if no wicket early the draw has got to shorten so which price is going to lengthen ?
Report Queen_Dulu November 18, 2012 1:16 PM GMT
But why take the risk? If either of these two gets out in the first 10 overs, you miss out on a HUGE value. Don't be so greedy. 1.58 on India here is about as good a value bet you'll ever get.
Report worcester sauce November 18, 2012 1:20 PM GMT

Report Asparagus Man November 18, 2012 6:18 PM GMT
Turned into a potentially fascinating Day 5.

One thing I'm very sure of is that England will not be 'setting' anything. They will get bowled out or bat all day. Why set India 160 off 40 out of choice and let Sewage knock them off with his co@k?

Grind the Indian bowlers into the dirt will the option if it comes to it. It's a series - think how Brisbane changed the series against the Aussies.

Report nigelpm1 November 18, 2012 10:39 PM GMT
yeah, the problem here really is it only takes one good ball to break this excellent partnership and it's probably all over.  The tail can bat but probably not more than 30 odd overs.  Perhaps more importantly India will be upset after today and will be sure to come out fighting tomorrow - hard to see us surviving.  Best course of action I feel is back India now and if Prior and Cook are still in come lunch hammer the draw then - clearly prices will have moved but likelihood is they won't both still be in.

Report Queen_Dulu November 19, 2012 7:03 AM GMT
England just don't have the ability to play cricket in the subcontinent. Look at how easily Pujara and Sehwag play spinners. They can handle spinners on these slow low turning wickets with their eyes closed. On the other hand, English batsmen seem to overcomplicate things against spin, and treat every pitch like a minefield.
Report lmfao November 19, 2012 7:21 AM GMT
now dont go overboard dulu

if eng had won the toss and posted 400+ this would/ could have been very different
Report Queen_Dulu November 19, 2012 7:25 AM GMT
You think they would've scored big had they batted first? They've batted first on quite a few occasions in Asia, and the result have been the same. Their batsmen can't play on these wickets be it on day 1 or day 5. If they bat first in Mumbai, they'll be bundled out for less than 200 again. India will score 500/5 dec and then England will be 250 all out 2nd dig. It's just a hopeless situation.
Report Whisperingdeath November 19, 2012 8:04 AM GMT
Well I think England lost any chance they had when they lost the toss.  I would have backed the draw had they won the toss.  Their pathetic showing in their first innings cost then a match they should have drawn.  I guess some people with a sound knowledge of the sub continent made some good money here.  Good fight back by England so hopefully the rest of the serioes will be exciting.
