Looking forward to this. Covers completely off now and match will be started in a few mins...
Report nigelpm1 November 10, 2012 10:33 AM GMT
yeah looking much brighter out there.  CMM could be a winner here
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 10:34 AM GMT
Good idea, nigel...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 10:34 AM GMT
Wow! 1.7s...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 10:36 AM GMT
Looks like free munny on CMM... Surely when match gets started that 1.7 will drop to 1.2 or something...
Report nigelpm1 November 10, 2012 10:37 AM GMT
not sure about that as plenty of clouds still around BUT at 1.65.....
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 10:37 AM GMT
Anyway. What do you guys think? Another win for SL?
Report betfire November 10, 2012 10:40 AM GMT
nzl win today....dilshan is a big blow for lanka....if no more rain, nzl will win this
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 10:42 AM GMT
Dark clouds look like they are receding now...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 10:45 AM GMT
From the Cricinfo lads: "The covers are completely off now. You have got to give it to the groundstaff who have been playing some great innings this series. They got the entire ground covered before it all started and for an outfield the size of Hambantota, that is a lot of work."
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:03 AM GMT
Watching the video and it looks like there are just a couple of patches that the umpires are directing the super sopper to go and mop up. Should be underway soon, then!
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:04 AM GMT
Odds on CMM have come in too! 1.5s. Once match starts I imagine we'll see 1.1s pretty soon after... Cool

Must be a lot of people in the completed match market who are not watching the telly and just relying on cricinfo for their betting decisions. Cricinfo is a great source of info when you don't have video but is always a few mins late...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:19 AM GMT

Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:26 AM GMT
Don't worry about it lanza. The guy on the telly said a few moments...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:28 AM GMT
I'm going to start greening up when we hit the 1.2s and use the mug money I've made for my bets on the match...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:33 AM GMT
Seems that the punters behind all that money that was laying a completed match at 1.7s are in denial... They're trying to push the market back up to 1.6s... Good opportunity to load up!

alternatively, rain is on the way

Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 11:58 AM GMT
Yes, that is an alternative but it only looks dark because it is late. Not all clouds are necessarily rain clouds...
Report betfire November 10, 2012 12:04 PM GMT
its often very cloudy here in hambantota...i remember india vs lanka this year being played for 100 overs in worse conditions

Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 12:11 PM GMT
Yes, I also think it was because the market was confusing evening time with dark rain clouds. It's dusk over there now!!
Report tsango November 10, 2012 12:14 PM GMT
you seriously think people are betting with large amounts of money because they are confusing evening time with dark rain clouds??

I agree.  It's clear there's plenty of rain about - not a gamble I'd want to be taking without "local" knowledge right now.

Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 12:21 PM GMT
I do. Every time the video has shifted to a vista of the ground with dark clouds the market has shifted.
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 12:32 PM GMT
And yet the match goes on. I like the fact that the video shifts to "dark" clouds... Means I get to top up at 1.8s before I inevitably get to lay at 1.3s and 1.4s... Laugh
Report nigelpm1 November 10, 2012 12:39 PM GMT
trouble is though there is a lot of rain around :

Report nigelpm1 November 10, 2012 12:40 PM GMT
it could be fine but they have to get through these 42 overs first and then another 20 - it's still not straight forward
Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 12:41 PM GMT
The CMM No bettors might be right or they might have proper info, but I do think they're guessing on the fact that night and clouds = dark clouds = rain. As you say, it's a dangerous market to potentially be in, which is why I'm not really in it, but I also think the money is guessing.
Report 1.01 Layer November 10, 2012 12:49 PM GMT
CMM market is invented for guessing. You ask any weather forecaster how hard the weather is to predict.
CMM is all about opinions, impressions and comments and has precious little to do with fact.
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 12:54 PM GMT
And that's why it is so good to trade. Personally, I normally lay completed match once I have decent profit in the match odds market. But usually at 1.1s and below. It's good insurance. Noone in their right mind should be laying it at 1.7s though before the match has even started. That's just crazy!!
Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 12:54 PM GMT
Has this series been between Sri Lanka and New Zealand or Sri Lanka and rain.
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 1:01 PM GMT
1.2s now as I predicted. I suppose if Lanks get NZ all out before the 42 overs are up, then the CMM will collapse to 1.01...
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 1:02 PM GMT
Haha! Market shifted because they went off for drinks...!!! Laugh
Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 1:05 PM GMT
Like I said. Market is guessing. Badly.
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 1:18 PM GMT
17 overs left before we are into the SL innings. More rain and it'll be D/L...
Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 1:23 PM GMT
Had to reboot my computer and I see CMM flip-flopped again and again. What happened?
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 1:24 PM GMT
Not sure. But if we get to the 40th over and the CMM market is still in the 1.3s I've got a couple of grand to throw at it...
Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 1:29 PM GMT

Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 1:39 PM GMT
Seriously. NZ could be all out within a few overs and then we're into Lanka's innings!!!
Report RememberJeremyBates November 10, 2012 1:41 PM GMT
OK. Covers back on, but reckon they'll go back out again. D/L result most likely...
Report DStyle November 10, 2012 1:42 PM GMT

Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 2:12 PM GMT
Looks like I might be kissing goodbye to whatever little green I'd already amassed. Ought to have bought some insurance at 4s on the CMM but easy in hindsight.

been off another 30 minutes now,

30 minutes ??? to remove covers???

so think we have 30 minutes left approx before lanka would be batting

not looking good for over 125 run line.
Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 2:16 PM GMT
If they resume now, I think we'll be straight into Sri Lanka innings. But I doubt there's much more time they can lose now.
Report lanza November 10, 2012 2:25 PM GMT

Report Darlo Bantam November 10, 2012 2:53 PM GMT
Not sure about the prospect of a result. Cricinfo reckons they have to be re-started within 90 minutes to get a result but it takes an hour to get the ground ready. That only allows 30 minutes error and/or more rain.

No nigel. No way I end up mug now because I spent all day backing a completed match at 1.6s and higher and just kept laying at 1.3s and lower. The match could be abandoned right now and I still win!!!
