Jontyblade • October 22, 2012 1:29 PM BST some very unfair criticism of joe root on here. 20/20 is not his natural game, the big wigs in the England set up rate him very highly.

None of the mugs here care about that. T20 is what it's all about these days, and I doubt none of your fellow forumites have actually been to a test match in their lives...

But why take him if he can't play it - for a holiday ?
because he was an integral part of the side that came runners up in the English 20/20. AND he's going to be an international cricketer for years to come.

joe root needs to find another career he will never be a 20 20 player
he'll just have to make do with a long test career then won't he? i'm guessing cricket knowledge isn't your strong point

Jonty - I would say my cricket knowledge is as strong as most. When T20 started it was treated as a gimmick / joke. Now it's the most popular form of the game & the biggest crowd puller / cash-cow. I love test cricket and I wish him well but there's a lot of people trying to get in the test team, at the moment he's not good enough in any format.

i wasn't questioning your knowledge. The problem Root has is he can't score quick enough in T20. But he's technically very gifted and the England hierachy want him involved. He's got a ton for the lions and a championship double ton in the last 6 months and I think he'll be given a slot at some point on the India tour.

As I said I wish him well, i for one wish the England Hierachy would finally move away from the likes of Bopara and patiently blood some new talent like Bairstow / Taylor etc and give them a good chance. I also think that a batsman of this era needs to be able to adapt if he is to have a flourishing career. I believe a class batsmen can do well in any format.....

Morse, you certainly seem to be one who, when taking a view, sticks to his guns for as long as possible. That can be an admirable quality and was one that I tried to emulate when in business. Maybe one day you will share with us how you amassed your fortune.

Allowing Albie to get away with 4-0-12-2 sealed Yorkies fate.
Shocking stuff - the goon should go for 32 at absolute minimum - and as for 2 wickets!!!! Defies beelief.
