20. It states it in "Rules".

they have a better team for a shorter format if they do play

wicket will still be good

Report RafterP1 August 24, 2012 12:03 PM BST
Not sure.. I know they have to start by 3.30pm so they can fit in 20 overs a side
Report Gin August 24, 2012 12:06 PM BST
Cheers Rafter

That would suggest they would be finished by 7 ish? I thought it would be later.

1.22 Sorry!
Report Darlo Bantam August 24, 2012 2:29 PM BST
They've only got an hour before they have to start. Like Nigel says a 3pm start gives just 30 minutes more delay. No chance this game will be finished.
Report nigelpm1 August 24, 2012 2:31 PM BST
cut the interval though to 10 mins - There will now be a ten minute interval at 16.41-16.51, with close of play at 18.32
Report Darlo Bantam August 24, 2012 2:39 PM BST
Is it raining again? No went right out to 1.45 but back to 1.20. And cricinfo says "just don't look at the rain radar", suggesting more to come before the 3pm start.
Report cnman August 24, 2012 2:40 PM BST

Report DStyle August 24, 2012 3:06 PM BST
you're looking at no interruption of more than 25 minutes in the remainder of the match.

cmm should be 1.05 based on the forecast.
Report cnman August 24, 2012 3:08 PM BST
why p1ss around only reducing it to 23 overs a side? may as well make it twenty a side rather than calculating how many overs we've lost when we inevitably go off again
Report Darlo Bantam August 24, 2012 3:08 PM BST
Market seems to be overreacting simply to the fact the players are coming out rather than the forecast of not raining for a total of now 24 minutes.
Report d13phe August 24, 2012 3:10 PM BST

While you're kind of right, I seem to recall some of the best IPL scores, team and invididual wise weren't dependant on the first over or so. Gayle especially springs to mind. However, Cook doesn't have the same gears as Gayle.

Report lustrumm August 24, 2012 3:28 PM BST
Point taken Darlo but none the less to seem them both smacking the ball around in the 4th and 5th over you would have to wonder what the hold up was. I guess part of it is lulling the opposition into thinking you are struggling. RR fine again now all it took was 2 overs to have it over 7
Report Darlo Bantam August 24, 2012 3:30 PM BST
I think the days of a pinch-hitter going after the bowling from the first delivery seem to have gone - and bizarrely with the advent of T20 cricket.
